Unmentionables, a brand based on the South Coast UK, has an undeniable bohemian feel, with interesting twists and details added to your typical vintage styles. I think my favourite part – and what initially drew me into this brand – is the floral appliques adorning bralettes and knickers. I could see some gals sporting these at something like Coachella, especially the fringed halter crop. They are clearly pieces mean’t for show and not so much practical everyday wear, but I think that’s the fun of intimates. There is so much to find for all sides of yourself – the practical and the frivolous, the sexy and the sweet, the naughty and the nice. I think Unmentionables has most of these covered.
What is it about bows on intimates that make them that much more appealing?! I mean, it is rather impractical for everyday wear (I’ve never been one for practicality though), and yet it seems like bows were mean’t for undergarments (and everything really) – like a wrapped present. So, it only made sense I fell for Lena Lena Lingerie almost instantly. Bows galore! Designer Elena is inspired by feminine sensuality and the charm it evokes, which is brought to life in her collection of sweet and sultry pieces that would make any woman feel her best. And how about that ivory bodysuit?! Any collection featuring one or more bodysuits is a collection I can get down with. Maybe it’s from the years and years (and years) of wearing bodysuits for dance classes, but I always get super excited when I see ones with interesting cuts and details.
I instantly fell for Sugar Lace Lingerie because of the adorably feminine designs and perfectly sweet colour combinations. While I’m not usually one for colourful intimates, I absolutely make an exception when the pieces are in the most beautiful pastel shades. I mean, how could you say no to any one of these?! Designer Adrianna Tenorio is based out of Chicago, IL. where she went to school for fashion illustration and design. In her last two years of school she realized her love for lingerie design and that’s when Sugar Lace Lingerie came to fruition (and thank goodness for that!). Sharing this brand comes at just the right time, since Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I liken each of these pieces to sweet and sugary goodness.
Etsy is such a wonderful place to come across new-to-me handmade labels. In my search for new lingerie designers I could share with you I came across Toru & Naoko, an intimates brand designed and owned by Camila, an Argentinean now living in Chile. She has such a wonderful ability to take classic, vintage-inspired looks and add interesting design details that it almost pains me that they are undergarments, and not outer-garments. But this is how I always feel about lingerie. My favourite articles of clothing to own/wear are always the ones that feel inappropriate to wear in public – lingerie, dressing gowns etc. I guess it works out nicely that I’m mostly an introverted homebody and thus have many an opportunity to give my much loved intimates their time to shine.
Well, it’s been quite awhile since I wrote about another intimates label, but that does not mean I haven’t been keeping my eye out for you guys (and for myself). I came across JulieK Lingerie quite awhile ago and thought it was due time I share this handmade Scotland/California based brand. JulieK started designing her own lingerie from a deep-rooted love for intimates, a love that dates back to her childhood memories of adorning herself in her mother’s personal collection. Her designs are a bit more modern than what I am normally drawn to (I’m not a fan of thongs), but I could see myself in many pieces from her collections, as there is still a vintage quality too many of them and sweet detailing that I often look for in lingerie. Check out her shop here.
