YES, PLEET.

I’ve been following Samantha’s collections for what feels like years and years now, and it’s been so interesting to watch her label change and grow, while still maintaining many of it’s defining design elements – it’s surprising, while also being kind of reassuring. Samantha Pleet has always been for the dreamer, and in my opinion, the unapologetic weirdo, so to speak; a label I feel connected to in many ways. This collection features pockets disguised as windows, shift dresses, co-ords, 70s collars, wide legged pants and of course, a Pleet collection would not be complete without an illustrated print featuring the collection’s themes.

COLOUR ME RAD!

Valentino never disappoints me. Yes, it’s always a bit over-top, but that’s exactly what I love about this label. Nothing about Valentino is quiet or reserved. Valentino is not for the faint of heart or the modest, and this particular collection is no exception. It’s in your face and literally spans worlds. Do you notice the mix of Americana and Japanese themes? I did, although it took me a minute. It was confusing at first, in the way that two things so very different could be united and you never considered it before. It’s easy to dislike it at first, only because it’s so unfamiliar, but once you are over that initial moment of floundering feelings, finally, there is clarity – it’s fucking awesome.

Inspiring Me: Pastel Pinterest

I use Pinterest for many reasons – creative inspiration, keeping tabs on work-related ideas, home decor, meal planning, outfit ideas, things I might like to buy…pretty much the same reason everyone uses Pinterest, I think. In one of my posts asking what you would like to see more from me and this space you had mentioned that you’d like see some of my favourite pins at the moment. So I thought I’d do just that every once in awhile. These particular pins are inspiring to me because of their aesthetics and creamy colour combinations. The pastel aesthetic is a popular one of late, and while I don’t purport to be a pastel princess I do really love the colour combinations and am very much drawn to still lifes and real life moments and environments where these hues are found. I have a Pinterest board titled “L O V E L I E S” and all it really is is images with beautiful colours, textures and composition that are inspiring me at the moment, curated (hopefully) seamlessly. I can’t say for how long pastels will be inspiring to me, much like everything in life, the things we are drawn to are fluid and ever-changing, so who knows where this board will go (it has definitely changed a bit since I made it…if you scroll to the bottom you’ll see a wee difference) but for now these are only a few of the images and pins I’m loving right now. Larkspur Vintage | Collection: THE WHITEPEPPER - Sunday Morning Well it’s been quite awhile since I posted a collection or lookbook here. I’m not sure the reason for that. I think I have just been interested in posting my own original content, along with being kind of bored by a lot of the stuff coming out recently. One thing I will never grow bored of, however, is THE WHITEPEPPER. And how could I? With simple silhouettes adorned with little paws, batting eyelashes and cute facial silhouettes in a mix of pastel and primary colours, they are always coming out with something new and fresh, and yet so quintessentially WHITEPEPPERY. This collection seems to take the normcore silhouettes and styles that have risen in popularity and made them interesting by adding cool novelty prints and detailing without being overwhelming. I like the marriage between the two – simplicity and originality, very yes pls. Oh, and yes, I will take the Pink Painted Paw Shirt, thanks.

Collection: Valentino Haute Couture FW 2015-16

As much as my days of all black dress, dark heavy eye makeup and ultra gothy vibes have passed me by, I still get pangs of excitement deep in my chest whenever I see anything styled remotely Gothic and Medieval. So it’s no surprise these images in Vogue Italia made me stop dead in my tracks. Valentino always, always brings out some of the most stunning garments that seem more works of art than actual articles of clothing, but it no less makes me wish I was the type of person who had a place to wear gowns of such luxury. The starting point for this particular collection was Rome, which feels like the most suitable place to adorn intricately embroidered gowns and heavy metallic accessories with a stoic disposition. I wish I could transport myself into these images so I could be a part of this gothy, sullen world. When in Rome, right?!
