Last year, when I was working as a flight attendant, one of my favourite things about our hotel in Brussels, was that they put little tiny bottles of lavender spray by the bed for your sheets and pillow. I don’t know why it took me this long to copy the idea, but I finally did!
I’ve had a bit of a life long love affair with air fresheners (when Febreeze releases new limited edition scents, I get a little crazy). Lavender has always been my favourite scent for almost anything – and so, when I spotted a vendor selling essential oils at the farmer’s market this weekend, I bought the lavender one right away. I made this room spray, but also some scented soy wax candles that I’m probably a little too excited about.
What you’ll need:
Simple as anything, just fill your spray bottle with distilled water and add in 8-10 drops essential oil per cup of water. Shake well and let sit for an hour or so before using. Shake before each use.
There are a lot of great recipes online for room sprays. Some of them suggest mixing Chamomile oil with lavender to make the scent even more relaxing. Other favourites of mine include; eucalyptus, cedar wood, tea tree, rose and sage oils.
It is no surprise that I am always pretty smitten with Orla Kiely’s collections. With a nod to decades past, it’s right up my alley. Her presentation for A/W 2013 collection could have been lifted straight from a scene of Mad Men. Watching the video made me wish I worked in an office in the 1960’s, full of beehives, cat-eye glasses, a-line silhouettes and plenty of pointed collars. This was one of those collections I had a hard time not including every look. With every scroll of the mouse my eyes would widen and I’d find my fingers saving every image. Like a kid in a candy shop. Or in my case, like Alex visiting a chocolatier.
This is another infinitely wearable collection, that if I had any money at all, I would like to own pretty well every piece (squirrel embroidery!!!). But alas my pockets do not runneth over.

Happy Easter everyone! I’m just winding down from a four day weekend with my parents and Sister, who all came to visit me in Toronto. As always, it was wonderful to see them, and have sleepovers with Allie, eat ridiculous amounts of delicious food, and walk the dogs around Toronto. I’m sad to see them leave, but at least I know it’s Spring now (sort of) so I can look forward to more regular visits back and forth between Toronto and Montreal (the highway between the two is miserable to drive in Winter).
I hope you all had lovely Easter weekends with your friends and family, too!
