Another amazing collection and lookbook

If you have been around here for awhile, then you are well aware that I have been working with Act Three Apparel for several years now; as a model and stylist for their AW’15 and 16 lookbooks and as a stylist for SS’16 and 17 lookbooks. Watching this label grow has been truly amazing. As soon as Sarah approached me with designs for the first collection I knew it would be loved by many of you and by my blogging/instagram pals and community. Aside from feeling a sense of pride for the brand, being able to meet some online friends that I maybe would never had the chance to meet, first Gaby Cetrulo for SS’16 and then Annika White for this collection, has been another wonderful part of this job. Annika is beautiful, as you can see, and funny as heck. There is nothing I love more than a girl with an improbable doll-like disposition and a kick-ass personality. Annika was the perfect face for this collection and Danielle brought it together with her dreamy imagery and analogue prowess that make these lookbooks what they are.

IT’S HERE…

ACT THREE. ‘s Autumn/Winter 2016 collection! It feels like we shot this lookbook ages ago, and I have been dying to share it and these perfect little dresses ever since. We were lucky to find a room at The Gladstone Hotel that would made all our Ballet meets Renoir meets Versailles dreams come true and I think it helped to bring out the magic and elegance of this collection. As always, I am so proud to be a part of Sarah’s little team and I hope you all love the collection as much as I do.

And a new viewpoint

It had been quite awhile since I set off just myself to take outfit photos. It’s far more convenient to have others help me out, but I certainly missed the process of shooting myself. I will admit though, I think I needed the break. I was feeling a bit apathetic about the images and content I was creating for this space, which I’ve come to gather is why there has been far less posting around these parts. However, I was welcomed home from Mexico with a new lens, care of Zach (sweet one, he is), and I’m feeling pretty excited and rejuvenated by it. I guess it’s fitting that a new lens can literally change your perspective.

As for the May dress, it’s my latest one from ACT THREE.‘s most recent collection, and I think my favourite from the label yet. I am usually not very drawn to 50s – early 60s silhouettes, but this dress still felt well suited to me, and once I tried it on it quickly became a favourite for the summer. The thing about this dress, the first time I wore it, I really felt great in it. It’s not too short, it’s not too tight, the fabric feels sturdy but lightweight enough for summer and it has sweet details like wooden buttons up the front and tied shoulder straps. It’s a gem this one, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from ACT THREE.

On Ward’s island

Last week I shared ACT THREE. SS’16 collection lookbook that I styled, and today I’m sharing some behind the scenes (or #bts…so internet) images I took during our shoot, in between fussing with Gaby’s clothes and putting together outfits. To be honest, these behind the scenes mostly ended up being pictures of Gaby rather than the surrounding area (we shot on Ward’s Island) and process, which I usually try to share with you all, but Gaby is truly a sight for sore eyes, so it’s hard to turn the camera away from her – you can’t really blame me. If nothing else, it’s another chance for you to check out these beautiful dresses and maybe give yourself a reminder to pick up that Spring/Summer dress ; )

and the beautiful gaby

This blog has brought about me getting to do some pretty cool things and meeting some pretty cool people. I’d count styling and modelling (although, not this particular season) for Canadian design label, ACT THREE., and meeting/working with this look book dream team one of them. Getting to be a part of Sarah’s process and team for the last 3 seasons has been really special. ACT THREE. is a label I really stand behind and feel proud to be able to work on and share with you all. This whole collection, from the dresses, to the photography, to the styling, to the art direction, to the modelling, to the hair and makeup was a true labour of love. Our work together is always very collaborative allowing us to create some pretty magical images. I love these dresses and this lookbook, and Gaby’s beautiful face, so I hope you do too!
