A House Is A Home

DSC_0860Our bedroom was the first room that really came together after the move. It’s not a very large bedroom, so really, deciding what and where furniture went was not a difficult task. Save for some picture frames that still need to find their rightful place on the wall (you don’t know how many times I move picture frames around until they find their desired spot…it’s embarrassing), and a couple things we need to finish off the room, it’s pretty well done. I had this dream of having a lot of white furniture and white walls (okay, we have the white walls), very bright, with colourful accents here and there – maybe a bright colored arm chair, a patterned rug – but alas, most of the furniture we own is wood, which to be honest, is very nice – we have some beautiful antique pieces (my dresser for one) – but obviously what I envisioned is not possible, for now. If doll hairs grew on trees, maybe then would my dreams come to fruition sooner than later. All In due time.

How rad is this dress by the way!? My internet pal, Ashley of Milk Teeths, posted it to her shop instagram, and my eyeballs immediately burst with love, and then after the love at first sight settled, I had a moment of panic, like, what if someone buys this before me? And then it was like daggers bursting out of my eyes. Anyways, seeing as how I had such a strong reaction to this dress, I knew I had to buy it, and so I did, and here we are. If you guys haven’t check out Ashley’s blog and shop (I’m sure you have), I urge you to do so. She’s such a charmingly funny, rad and beautiful gal, with an amazing eye for vintage clothes and housewares.

I hope you all had a great weekend, mine was pretty fun.

Into It, Intimates / Thread Beat

il_fullxfull.360020304_1dfqI came across Thread Beat on etsy almost 2 years ago. I immediately fell in love with this labels vibe, mostly for it’s unique sleepwear and intimates. To me, designer Rebecca Tanner-Russell’s inspiration for her sleepwear very distinctly comes from the 1920s to 1930s. I imagine much of these garments to be worn by the mothers of poor families during the Dust Bowl years – pieces worn around the house before covering up in a button down cotton midi dress. But nowadays anyone of these garments could be worn both inside and outside the house. I’d be happy to wear something like the outfit pictured above during the Summer, that is for certain.

My favourites: Button Eyelet Slip Underdress, Cotton Bralette and Bloomer set, Cotton Buttonback Petticoat and Bralette, Cotton Buttonwaist Camisole and Petticoat

For The Love Of Lingerie

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 presetWhile I’m in the midst of moving, things may be a little quiet around here until I get my internet switched over to the new place. In the mean time, I’d like to share a wee post Larkspur was featured in over the weekend at For The Love of Lingerie blog. I’m pretty excited about it since we all know of my love for lingerie, so it was very flattering to be featured as their Etsy pick of the week. Please check it out if you have a chance.

Take care dear pals. Hopefully I’ll be back here posthaste.

Bonjour!

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 presetWell it’s been a minute hasn’t it?! Just giving you a little update on what’s been going on in my little ol’ life. Ryan and I just got back from camping and adventuring in the Bruce Peninsula National Park, which is why the blog was all crickets and tumbleweeds last week. I’ve got tons of photos and stories to share with you this coming week to make up for the nothingness of last week, but everyone deserves a break once in awhile I think, and this was well overdue.

I’m mostly here (posting on a Sunday) to let you know Whim Online Magazine featured Larkspur’s Summer 2014 lookbook on their site, and wrote about me, this blog and the shop, so I’d love for you guys to check it out, and to give their magazine a gander, if you have not already. It’s so so sweet, and made my day yesterday when they sent me the link.

Hope you are all having a lovely Labour Day weekend. I’ve got a lot of work to catch up, and I’ve got to start packing and throwing away/donating my things for my move this month.
