This Is Halloween

Larkspur Vintage | This Is HalloweenHappy Halloween Guys and Ghouls!

Since the day I found this Halloween vest, I’ve been pretty darn excited to wear it. It’s the type of thing that can only be worn this time of year (without looking insane), so certainly not practical, but I just could not pass it up when I found it. It reminds me of something an enthusiastic grade school teacher would wear, which I imagine is probably exactly where it originated. But now it’s mine, certainly not a grade school teacher, but definitely enthusiastic, and I hope to be able to enjoy it each Halloween for years to come.

As for tonight’s Halloween festivities, I may stay in with a friend, watch scary movies and eat snacks, but there is the option of a Halloween party, which is generally always a good time, but I did however already go to one on Saturday, where I dressed up as Steve Jobs (lol) and that may have fulfilled my Halloween costume party quota for the year. Either way, it will be a fun night, I’m sure.

What are you guys getting up to? Dressing up? Don’t like Halloween? Let me know in the comments below.

Halloween Goodies Roundup

If you are as crazy as I am about Halloween festivities, then it’s likely you have already scoured the internet for Halloween pieces to add to your closet. But maybe you haven’t, and that’s why I thought in the name of Halloween and sharing the fun, I would put together a roundup of some cute Halloween inspired pieces from around the web. I’ve already picked up a couple things for myself that will eventually make an appearance here, but until then, here are some goodies I didn’t pick up, but kind of want to now.

Halloween and Autumn Home Touches

Larkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home Toucheslet the gourd times roll

As I mentioned a few posts back, this time last year – and during most of the festive season – I was just moving into a new apartment, and to make the move go a little more smoothly I had rid myself of a lot of the stuff I owned that just felt like dead weight. Because of that, I didn’t really get to make my home feel festive during Halloween or Christmas last year, so this year I really wanted to make my place feel cozy, inviting and somewhere that made me truly happy. Today I thought I’d share a few Halloween and Autumnal bits and pieces from around my home. I pretty well got all these decorations from the dollar store, so for those of you who don’t really want to spend a ton on festive decorations (which is totally reasonable), you can find some pretty cute  and great things for real cheap at your local dollar store.Larkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home TouchesLarkspur Vintage | Halloween and Autumn Home Touches

All Hallows’ Eve

015_19Happy Halloween dear friends! I had some left over exposures on a roll of film in my Pentax back from the summer and thought it was due time I do a little shoot to finish off the roll. I had never shot in the dark, so Ryan and I were just kind of crossing our fingers hoping these would turn out. But that’s what I love about analog. Experimentation and not really knowing the outcome is all part of the fun with film.

I thought I’d go in a bit of a different direction with a Halloween post. Unfortunately, I don’t have a Halloween costume planned for today – I’ll likely throw something together last minute if we end up going out – so I couldn’t really do your standard Halloween costume photo shoot. I did however have this cape on hand, and this velvet dress that was dying to be worn, so I thought I’d just be a spooky little red riding hood/vampire/witch/scared/i dunno girl in the woods. Well, whatever I was, I think I succeeded with a bit of spooky vibes. I hope you enjoy!

All you gals and ghouls better have a terrorific Halloween.

SpOoOky Ghosts

ZWcxSdyDXvL02gwzHalloween is right around the corner, and to get into the spirit (no pun intended), I thought I’d share these images by artist, Angela Deane, of her hand painted generic ghosts on found photographs. While the ghosts are actually quite adorable, there is an undeniably haunting quality to Angela’s work. And with the images being film and polaroids, there is a feeling of nostalgia which only emphasizes the spooky notions these images conjure. Such a simple idea, and yet so striking and original. I’m an instant fan, and these images are getting me excited for the spooky Halloween shoot Ryan and I have planned.
