Outfit: Mucha Feelings

Larkspur Vintage | Outfit: Mucha FeelingsLarkspur Vintage | Outfit: Mucha FeelingsIf you follow me on instagram, then you probably know I’ve been pretty sick recently, which sort of explains the radio silence around here – it’s been a whole lot of pyjamas and no makeup (and re-watching Grey’s Anatomy forever and always, amen.) around these parts . However, a truly exceptional dress by a favourite designer has a way of making you feel way less sick…or in my case, just look less sick. I don’t own many dresses that give me a very specific feeling, but this one makes me feel like I just stepped out of a Pre-Raphaelite painting, which is a much better feeling to have than the clogged ears, irritated eyes, stuffy nose feelings I am currently existing with. Another great feeling (today is all about feelings, ok!) is being able to offer $50 off this gem of a dress with the code larkspurholidays. Every holiday season Nina offers some awesome discounts on many of her designs, which is a great way to get some of her off-season products you’ve had your eye on at a much reduced price. Happy Holidays, friends. A Cloudy Accessory

Larkspur VintageGus came back home from his surgery on Sunday, and boy has it been difficult. With back surgery, for the first 4-6 weeks they are not allowed to jump on and off furniture, go on walks longer than 5 minutes, do stairs, he needs strict cage rest when I am not watching, no playing, no sleeping in our bed (that is impossible, so I have taken to sleeping on the couch and him right next to me on a doggy bed)…just no fun what so ever. If you know Gus, you know that’s difficult to control. At 5 yrs, this little guy still seems like a puppy, both in behaviour and appearance. One would think it would be easy to keep him quiet because he would be painful and exhausted from surgery, but that is not the case here (dogs aren’t big babies like humans). Granted, he is on a slew of painkillers, but honestly, aside from his ataxic walking (and the giant Frankenstein incision on his back), you would have no idea he underwent back surgery less than a week ago. I’ve always felt my little cloud is the toughest little Bichon around, one of the very reasons he is so loveable.

All that to say, the little cloud is doing well, but he still walks pretty badly. The neurologist said that should continue to improve, but whether he fully gets back to normal is hard to say. We will be crossing our fingers (and so should you). As you can see, he came with us to take some pictures yesterday because I didn’t want to leave him alone at home. But he always makes any photo better with his adorable manner, so no one is complaining here. And thank you again to everyone who has donated and sent us loving messages. It means so much to me, you have no idea. My GoFundMe page is still up as we haven’t reached the goal, so if you feel at all inclined to help out, your kindness will not go unnoticed.

Hometown Hunt: Christie Pits Film Festival

Larkspur VintageToronto is a big city with a ton of things to do and events taking place, and yet, I often find myself scratching my head every weekend or finding out about an event I really wanted to attend after the fact. So Meaghan and I vowed to keep tabs on the happenings of Toronto fun, and she wrote up a list of all the lovely, summery things we could do together. On that list was Christie Pitts Film Festival, an outdoor weekly movie screening that takes place in Christie Pitts park starting July 5th until August 16th. The movies on this years list are pretty stellar, The Birds, Mean Girls, Oh Brothers, Where Art Thou?…to name a few, which I plan to see all of, of course. What could be more fun than an outdoor movie?! I always loved drive-ins as a kid and I’ve been to a few as an adult, but what about those of us who don’t have cars but still want to enjoy a bag of popcorn, maybe a milkshake and some fresh air?! CPFF has got you vehicle-less, park loving Torontonians covered.

Meaghan’s Toronto fun list came to fruition through google searches, but with Eventbrite you can find tons of events going on in your city and advertise your own event right quick. Maybe you can find out if your city is also playing some movies in your local park!

Rain Rain…

The weekend’s weather was rather shit, which was a bit disappointing but probably for the best as Ryan and I were able to reorganize some things in our apartment (I feel like I’m always saying that, but its ALWAYS a work in progress) and I got caught up on some much needed rest (youtube subscriptions). We did manage to pop out for a bit when the rain wasn’t so intense to snap these photos, and I figured I’d fight the dreary weather with a somewhat bright and psychedelic outfit. This vest actually comes from a set and it’s matching friend is in the form of a white drop waist button up collared dress with matching psychedelic pattern on the skirt. I’ll have to show you the full set one day, but for now you just get the vest. I’m not sure why I never thought to pair it with something outside of it’s designated dress friend until yesterday, but maybe it’s because I don’t own that many solid colored skirts and it’s obviously not a very ideal pattern to pair with another pattern. Although, that seems like a personal styling test of some sort and I think I’m up for the challenge.

How was your weekend friends? I feel like you’ve been a bit quiet lately, not sure why, but I would love to hear from you!

To Market, To Market

After all the craziness with little Gus (he’s back home and doing better now btw, slowly but surely), I desperately needed to get out of the house for a bit of gal time with Meaghan. Because Gus requires meds and to eat every couple hours I couldn’t be out for too long, but I still managed to get away for a few to take a stroll with Meg and her pups, and wander over to Echo Beach where they were holding the Junction Flea. While Meg and I both kept ourselves from buying anything substantial, we did each get a mini popsicle and met the cutest dachshund puppy ever (how do things that small exist, and why can’t I have them all!?). A short but fun excursion and I’m looking forward to life getting back to normal.

Side note: what do you guys think of my bangs side swept? They are a bit long right now so I wanted to get them out of my eyes, but I’m kind of liking the look.
