Over the weekend I learned Gertie has a thing for runners (the people, not shoes). By thing I mean she wants to chase them down. Like a moth to a flame, she notices their unusual pace and bolts for them. This was a bit of a shock for us since she is normally really good at responding to her name (as far as I can tell, but Gus is deaf, so I probably think any sort of reaction to name calls is truly amazing), and I had had her off leash before without any worry. Ha! She showed me! It did not matter how many times we called at the top of our lungs, she kept going. I honestly was so concerned we were going to lose her. But she eventually stopped for whatever reason, and I retrieved the little monster. In retrospect, it was a pretty hilarious scene to behold, Matt running ahead of me with Gus in his arms screaming Gertie’s name, and me trailing behind, running in heels yelling “Gertie! Fuck! Gertie!” and whatever other curse words came out of my mouth.

Other than my dog trying to escape me, the weekend was pretty lovely. Friday evening was my pal Nick’s birthday and Saturday evening was spent decorating Meaghan’s apartment for a little surprise party her boyfriend Nick (different Nick) had planned, and I helped execute. While Meaghan didn’t actually end up surprised because she saw the light go out through her window when she pulled into the parking lot, it still ended up being a really great evening. Just picture a New Radicals-Natalie Imbruglia-Prozzak-Meredith Brooks dance party, while the tenant below banged at us with a broom, and Meaghan stated that she may actually be attracted to the lead singer of New Radicals (bucket hat and all). That pretty much sums up the evening.

Larkspur Coats

Just a wee shop update today featuring…COATS. Some lovely, lovely coats. Honestly, this striped rain coat is amazing. In every way. If it fit me properly (a size smaller), I would never ever part ways with it. I’d love to see it go to a good home and get some wear. It deserves to be out in the streets of this world. Pop by the shop today and pick up a winter coat (and maybe some other things).

Rosaspina Vintage A/W ’13

rosaspinavintage_aw13_intro

I was pretty excited to find Ale of Rosaspina Vintage had released her new A/W’13 collection and look book yesterday. I’m a big fan. a BIG fan. Ale designs such pretty vintage inspired pieces, and her mother brings the designs to life with vintage fabrics from her grandmother’s archives. Her collections are not only lovely, but feel like a beautiful tale of legacy.
This collection is full of lady-like frocks, capes(!!!), pleated skirts, and some of the best high-waisted shorts I have laid eyes on in awhile. They also collaborated with Atelier Carlotta Sadino to create matching hats & headpieces so you can be decked head to toe in gloriousness. I would also like to mention, the first image of the look book is breathtaking. Am I right?! Tiny Ale next to this enormous tree is absolutely stunning. It could be the cover of a fairy-tale book. Or a Thumbelina re-make…a dark-haired, 1960’s Thumbelina.

Elbows and Pups On The Table

DSC_0742

It was quite the weekend, I must say. I welcomed a new member into my small family this weekend. Enter Gertrude, the silliest looking Shih Tzu I have ever laid eyes on. I have been told by reliable sources that the way most people pronounce Shih Tzu is incorrect. This was really no surprise to me. But I would have never guessed how to properly say it. The most common pronunciation is “shit zoo”, but apparently its “she sure”. Now, I told Matt this, and he did not believe it. We googled it, and low and behold, a million different ways to pronounce. So who really knows (someone out there does for sure). I prefer ‘she sure”. That sounds best to me, so I’m sticking with it.

I mention Gertie, but Gus decided he wanted to be the star in these pictures. He’s extra clingy since Gertie entered the picture. Poor guy. I’ll hopefully have a fun little post with the both of them at some point soon.
