Comfy Clogs

Larkspur Vintage | Comfy ClogsMaguba! (say it, it’s fun!)

Fitting that just yesterday I was talking about comfy, good looking shoes, and then today I’d be sharing these Maguba clogs. I don’t feel I need or often agree to talking about gifted items here, but when I say I was right prepared for these clogs to kill my feet and they didn’t, whatsoever, I was pretty blown away and knew I had to let you guys know about them.

Having comfortable feet is pretty important to me, especially now that I spend most of my days on my feet looking at clothes (I’m a clothing buyer for a local shop, in case some of ya’ll didn’t know). I often wear flat shoes or very shorts heels, so I was a bit nervous to wear these all day at work. My first thought right before putting them on was, “well my feet are way too effing wide for these.” Wrong. The leather has some give and allowed my feet a comfy spot inside (I do have really wide feet though, so I did have to fidget a bit with the leather on the toes to wiggle my feet in). And then I thought, “okay fine. but these are going to kill the balls of my effing feet after awhile” Wrong. Not even a bit. I spent the entire day in these shoes and my feet felt just fine by the end of it. Maguba definitely has my seal of approval…for whatever it’s worth. I hope if any of ya’ll are thinking of getting yourself a pair of clogs, you think of Maguba, not just because the name is fun to say (MAGOOOBA) but because they make great shoes that are customizable, so you are sure to get just what you want. And who doesn’t like getting what they want?!

The rest of the outfit feels very Canadian tuxedo, which I kind of love (I am Canadian, afterall.) But you know what I’m loving more than a Canadian tuxedo? Cropped kick flares. I now own three pairs – remember what I said about obsessing over one thing? Ya, that was kick flares at one point – but I’d love to find me a pair of black high waisted babies, so if you have any recommendations, please do tell!

Paint Splattered

Things have wind down a bit over here, so my goal is to get back on top of this space. In case you didn’t know, July was a busy month for me. I was working full time, rehearsing for a dance show and working on a month long collaboration with Open Wines, so my days were very full and consequently, exhausting. This space got the brunt of it, unfortunately. But I’m back here today with a new outfit post taken by myself (like old times) wearing a 50s inspired paint splattered print dress from Mona, a clothing brand I have shared here before.

I’m going to keep this post short today because I have a full day off today, so I’m hoping to get quite a bit of work done (so ya’ll have content here!) Have a great day my bbs! And let me know what you have been up to!

Well, my plan was to photograph an outfit (specifically, a dress I have been meaning to shoot for the last little while), and then it rained, hard. As they say, if you can’t beat em, join em…so join the rain we did. I can’t take much credit for an impromptu shoot like this. It was Zach who convinced me to still take pictures, regardless of rain (embracing it, actually), even if it was not the ones I had planned. I threw this outfit together totally based on the fact that I knew I wouldn’t mind getting these pieces wet (although the rain stopped coming down hard once we were out there, of course) and because what’s better than some bright colours and a little bit of Mexico on a gloomy day?

This summer has very much been about comfort, breathable pieces, 70s meets 90s, sometimes minimalism and denim…oh my goodness, a lot of denim. I feel as though the amount of denim I have added to my closet and have been wearing is making up for all the years (like my whole life) of never appreciating it. One thing is for certain when it comes to my personality type, when I decide I’m in, I’m all in.

Mine’s Eye

Larkspur Vintage | Mine's EyeLarkspur Vintage | Mine's EyeLarkspur Vintage | Mine's EyeLarkspur Vintage | Mine's EyeHey guys! ITS BEEN AWHILE…

The short of it is I turned 28 yesterday and I have been kind of MIA from this space. Not from
the internet, goodness knows I’m all over snapchat (pushyspence) and frequently update my insta, but I haven’t shared much on here. It’s not due to my lack of interest in taking pictures (maybe writing though) or of the clothes I put on my body, I just think what I have been doing, I am growing tired of. I honestly applaud bloggers who have been creating quality content, consistently for years and years – that is hard work and dedication. The thing is, this is not my full time job. Yes, I do make money off of brand partnerships every so often, and I am currently working with a wine brand that has been taking up a lot of the time I would spend creating content for this space, but I also work a full time job as a clothing buyer, 8 hrs a day, usually 5 days a week. I often find myself too tired before or after work to want to shoot stuff for this space, or I would rather spend time hanging with friends and going on adventures. But, it’s Summer, maybe once the cold season hits things will feel different in that respect. Although I haven’t been posting much, I have been taking a lot of pictures…just not really of me. Zach has been taking pictures of me, however, but they are generally one offs and get shared to my insta only. That’s the short of it, I guess.

I definitely do not want to abandon this space, I guess I’m just looking to change it a bit since I clearly have not been feeling inspired to share anything here. I still remain passionate about blogging and taking pictures, and sharing my outfits and makeup and adventures, but I look at all of that a little differently now and I want this space to reflect that. I know it sounds rather vague, and to be honest, I’m not sure what I’m looking to change, really. I just hope you remain patient with me. I will always come out with quality content, that is something I will always give you, even if it is few and far between for the time being.

These images were shot by Zach yesterday at Marmora Mine. Zach had been before with a friend and I was v jealous, so I told him thats all I wanted to do for my birthday. The Mine is so vast and filled with the bluest water I have laid my eyes on in a long while. It is very much trespassing to go beyond the fence that encases the mine, but clearly that did not deter us. Bad! We didn’t get caught, but I cannot promise you that will always be the case. I have a ton more images that I shot from our day spent there, so I’ll be sure to share those and talk more about this amazing place.

Mr. Summer

It’s hard to believe the first day of Summer was just yesterday. I always feel like this season has come and gone, seemingly, in the blink of an eye. I’ve already gotten up to many outdoor adventures, which is kind of how I measure whether Summer was a good one or not, so it was surprising to realize I still have a few months left and already I have done so much. But comparatively, this Summer doesn’t have much to compete with when it comes to last Summer. Last Summer did feel like it went by in the blink of an eye. Gus’ back surgery pretty much kept me from doing anything or going anywhere, and I remember feeling pretty bummed, not only because my poor little Gus was having a rough go, but also because I really look forward to being able to get outside and go places, and I did very little of that. But that was then, and this is now. Times change. Things get worse before they can get better, and damn did they get better. Summer has just begun!

What are you looking forward to this Summer (that’s if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere)? Let me know in the comments below!
