Easiest ever DIY sugar scrub

DSC_0292

I recently took up hot yoga classes at a studio near my place, and I can’t even believe how much I love it. It’s been hard to stop me from going every single day.  Tonight though, I skipped it, and cooked dinner for my friend Luke, who is leaving tonight, to Nepal, with his Mom and Brother, to hike to Base Camp One on Mount Everest!

I used to enjoy spending entire nights sprawled on my sofa, with the dogs, reading, or watching movies, but lately, I get restless – so, after Luke left, I got to making a sugar scrub I saw on Pinterest a few weeks ago. It might be the easiest thing you’ll ever make, and it actually is such a great scrub. Just equal parts coconut oil & sugar – melt the coconut oil (half a cup of coconut oil took 35 seconds in the microwave to melt), and pour the sugar in. Mix it, and pour it into the cutest container you have! It’s fairly rough, so I wouldn’t recommend using it on your face, or any sensitive skin areas, but it’s just about the best for hands, feet and arms.

The rest of the night, I indulged in all the most relaxing things I could think of – reading, hanging with my pups & drinking red wine (I shared some of that 1.5L bottle of cheap wine with Luke…I promise it wasn’t all for me). I’m so looking forward to this long weekend, since my parents and Sister are visiting, and we have LOADS of good stuff planned!

Sessùn Collection Printemps-Été 2013

page4-sessun960x600

All I can think about when I look at Sessùn’s S/S13 collection is planning a trip down to the South of France, or the Amalfi coast. It must be something about all the blues and pastels, that reminds me of Nice or Marseilles, and I want to be there – eating gelato while I watch old leathery looking people get unhealthily tanned.

It helps knowing that Sessùn’s creator, and designer, Emma François, is a notorious traveller, who takes inspiration from places she’s visited for her fabrics and designs.

But, this lookbook, more than any other – with it’s soft focus and ice cream shades – makes me want to be on a beach somewhere, where the water is unrealistically blue, and the sun is so hot I have to duck into air conditioned shops to cool off.

Listen to the wind blow

DSC_0231

I think this may have been the first weekend in a long time that I did not have to set my alarm. I still did though. Sleeping in was a much welcomed event at the Gus & Alex Everglades Residence.

Olivia was in town this weekend, so Meg and I spent some time with her, eating Pho (surprise, surprise), having drinks and never making it out to bars because we were too chatty. In between fun with Olivia and Meaghan’s new love for yoga, we found some time to thrift for the shop. We are both pretty excited about our finds! There are a few things that may need to be pried from my hands. This floral dress I’m wearing being one of them. Expect to see it in the shop in the next coming weeks.

Shop Update

1970’s Floral Shirtwaist Dress

We’ve got a little 50’s, 70’s and 90’s for ya in the shop today!! It may still be cold in some places around the world (cough, Toronto), but it is not too early to buy some cheerful Spring/Summer fun, and dream of riding bikes around and laying in parks with the sun shining down.

Well, as I stated in yesterday’s post, we’ve all got a little case of S.A.D. these days around the Larkspur HQ. So, mostly, all we’ve been up to – when work and dance aren’t keeping us busy – is hanging with our dogs, reading, cooking giant pots of chili-that-last-for-weeks, and gazing sadly out the window, as it continues to snow and be grey. At least we have the shop to keep us busy! We’re into the planning stages of a Spring/Summer lookbook, which (hopefully) will make the warm weather come faster!

(I was the lucky winner of a recent Stay Home Club giveaway, and I don’t think I’ve left the house without my tote since I got it in the mail last week!)

(I went through a huge Capra phase a few years ago, but I just started this biography – and it’s making me love him all over again!)
