Larkspur Got a Facelift

BEFORElarkspur revised 1by: Olivia Mew

AFTERlarkspurlogoeditby: Annya Karina

If you’re on this site, then you’ve already noticed that Larkspur got a bit of a facelift yesterday (unless this is your first time on the blog…then I’m telling you now, it got a face lift). Above you can see the old logo, and below is my new logo and header (obviously). As much as I loved my old one by super talented, Olivia Mew (thank you again x 1 million Olivia), it just didn’t feel like me anymore and didn’t really suit what this space has become. I wanted something that felt more girly (and pink), and well, that made sense with the name Larskpur…say, like a larkspur flower. I commissioned my friend Annya, amazing illustrator and designer of all things adorable, to make this idea in my little ol’ head a reality. It’s better than I could have ever imagined and when she sent me the final I was exploding with excitement. What do you guys think? I think it’s pretty darn perfect.

6. My new, beautiful Samantha Pleet x Wolverine Arc Boots – they were a gift from Ryan.
7-9. I very badly would like the couch in Ryan’s dad’s office…but I mostly posted these pictures because Gus is adorable.
10. My equally beautiful clutch from Falconwright – another gift from Ryan.

12-13. I realized I had never shared these illustrations of me by Sara Rocha (only on my instagram), a lovely girl I met through instagram, who is super sweet and has a knack for illustrating fashion bloggers in the most adorable way. She’s so talented, so please check out her work. You may recognize these illustrations were inspired by these photographs… 1, 2.

A New Year

Processed with VSCOcam with n3 presetHappy New Year dear friends! So I’m a bit irked right now…I had written a whole post talking about some good and bad things that happened in 2014, but my computer malfunctioned and the whole thing got deleted, which has never happened before (!!!), so I guess it was a sign. Maybe those words were not mean’t to be seen…maybe all those things were mean’t so stay with 2014, in the past. I guess all I will say is that I’m glad to see 2014 go. It was not the best year of my life. I saw tragedy and illness and lost something very dear to me…the sort of things that would understandably make you feel like the year was kind-of a bummer. But, there was quite a lot of good too and I have this blog to thank for that, so I shouldn’t give 2014 such a bad rap. This little corner of the internet has opened many doors for me that would have never happened 2 years (it’s been that long!?) ago. Even without the successes I’ve had with and because of this space, I’d still continue blogging because it has given me things I value tremendously. I’m very thankful for this space, and for those of you who have been here from the start, and those of you that are new here. In this new year I’d love to get to know some of you guys. I know I follow a ton of bloggers and never comment…just sort of a silent reader. But if you felt so inclined, it would be cool if you commented and let me know who you are, or told me a little bit about yourself, or even just a simple hello…anything really. I’m quite excited to see what this new year has in store and I hope you guys will be here to share and follow along.

2014 Outfit Recap / July-Dec

As promised, here is part two of my outfit recap for 2014. I didn’t use my film camera near as much as I would have liked this year, so that will have to be something that I work on for this coming year. I’m hoping to save up to get a film camera with a self-timer since my pentax does not have that function and thus I always need someone to help if ever I want to photograph myself with it (and we all know how much I prefer to have full control of everything). While I love sharing my outfits with you guys, the feel of the photographs are just as important to me as the actual outfit itself, so I hope to implement a lot more analog photographs for you that are both creative and showcase my style.

Happy New Years Eve, dear friends! Have a safe and lovely one!

2014 Outfit Recap / Jan – June

Last year – before the New Year – I put together a little post with all the outfits I shared on the blog in 2013. So this year I thought I’d do the same, but change it up a bit. This post will be divided in two so you aren’t overwhelmed with photos, since I decided I wanted to share a full size image from each post (and you can click each image which is linked to it’s original post).

In 2014 I really started working on my own photography and taking my own photos with a tripod. Pretty well all the photos below were taken by me, save for a few by Meaghan and Ryan. My photography skills are no where near where I’d like them to be, but you can definitely see a progression, which is pleasing since I devote a lot of my time to this blog and making it a space you can enjoy and that I feel proud of.
