Moody Monday

Winter hit us this weekend, and with my favorite (jk, hate you!) Mr. Subzero Winds in tow. My hair and skirt were flying every which way, which can you usually make for fun photos, but if your hands are totally freezing from fiddling with the camera it’s less fun, and more like, “why am I out here?! am I missing a part of my brain?”

I look slightly miserable in these photos. Which, we all know, is generally how my face looks in most photos (my smile makes me feel weird). But these are a bit telling. Bitter cold aside, I had a very rough last week. Having a blog is strange sometimes because (and I feel like a lot of bloggers feel this way) you aren’t always certain how much to share. Some things are just mean’t to be kept to oneself (sorry internet, you can’t know everything), but when some things may affect the content of the blog, you’re left wondering, “shall I share?”. I guess all there is to say is some very sad events transpired last week, and my heart is with all of my dear friends feeling this loss. And on my own part, a new chapter seems to be opening up for me, which I am both wholly hopeful for, but also tremendously sad. So there it is, cryptic and all, sometimes you gotta share in whatever way you feel comfortable (to explain the serious grump face).

On a more fashion related note, I have a love/hate relationship with this 1960’s cardigan. It’s so very Jackie O and glorious, but I have always been at a loss when it comes to pairing it with something in my closet. It can end up looking very stuffy and secretarial in a really bad way. Alas, this particular chilly morning I think I found a life mate in this thrifted Joe Fresh button up. I had no idea what a valued purchase this button up would be. I’m like a broken record here, but I love prints, which is why I purchased it without any real thought as to what would look nice with it (this is how I buy most things). It goes with more in my wardrobe than I could have ever imagined. So good job to you, Joe Fresh (minus all the controversial shit. shame on you for that).

Russian Doll

lindsey-wixson-by-emma-summerton-for-vogue-japan-december-2013This editorial in Vogue Japan’s December 2013 Issue killed my heart! Lindsey Wixson looks like the most glamorous russian doll I have ever laid eyes on. I mean, she already looks like a doll (those eyes and lips! not fair), but the clothes and styling are so reminiscent of Russian doll vibes, with a little sprinkle of Victorian perfection, it makes my heart skip a beat. We could all agree the headpieces could very well be the stars of the show. If I didn’t feel so insane walking down the street on a regular day wearing a headpiece, say, doing errands, I would do it, everyday (sometimes I wish I could just go back to my 10yr old self who would wear anything and everything without giving it a second thought). The most obvious reason for my love of this shoot is the print & pattern mixing. This editorial is the epitome of that, the very definition of why everyone should just walk around with at least two prints on their body at all times.

In closing, I have only this to say, bow ties, florals, headpieces, exquisite prints & doll woman…I love you all.

And my word is true like the sky is blue

DSC_0137This weekend was a pretty quiet one. I spent the majority of Saturday catching up on some much needed sleep before heading to Grand Electric for tacos and delicious Bourbon drinks with some pals for Meg’s birthday. Sunday we took the dogs for a stroll along the beach, and on the way back picked up some tasty almond milk lattes from Capital, followed by some warm bowls of Pho.

As you can see we had some pretty choice weather this weekend. I will sometimes allow myself to freeze a bit to get photos of my outfits, but this particular day wasn’t so bad. As you can see from these photos, I need a bang trim big time (and probably an everything trim). I usually do it myself, but I still get the fear every time I bring those scissors to my head. Unfortunately, my much loved hair dresser stopped cutting hair awhile back and I haven’t the slightest idea where to go. If any of you live in Toronto and have a hair dresser you absolutely love, let a girl know!

Thanks to the Kelly sisters for these snaps!

Shop Update

DSC_08621960’s Ivory with Crochet Detail Dress (S/M)

Happy Friday all! This week has felt exceptionally exhausting. I’m usually a fairly motivated person, but I found myself putting off work pretty often and just watching Skins on my couch with my two little pups. Sometimes that’s just what our minds need though…to just shut off for a few hours, and ignore all the emails that need a response, and the schedules we make for ourselves, and just allow ourselves to exist in the present. I forget that sometimes.

Anyways, all laziness aside, I did manage to update the shop with some pretty nifty items today. Feel free to take a gander. Maybe something will catch your eye.
