Life Savers

This winter really feels like it’s taken a toll on me. Trying to stay motivated and positive has often felt like a daunting task when sunshine is limited and the days look grey and dreary, and are cold as all hell (maybe hell is warm?) But I found this 1970s terrycloth romper at one of my favourite vintage stores and it immediately put a smile on my face. It reminds me of summer and Life Savers candy, and just happiness in general. So I thought to myself instead of waiting months to be able to wear it in the warmth, I’d bring the sunshine indoors by pairing it with some other bright accessories that put a smile on my face. And maybe one day I’ll move to a place that doesn’t freeze my toes as soon as I step outside.

Shop Update

DSC_1515DSC_15361960s Purple Plaid Pinafore/Jumper (S/M)

It has been a good while since I have done a shop update. I’m still working out the kinks in my new apartment for shop photos (lighting, location), but that will come with time. It started out nice and bright, and then some really weird shadows started happening nearing the end. I’ve just got to find the perfect hour when the sun is flowing through the windows and my body isn’t making weird Peter Pan shadows on the wall.

Anyways, the shop update! I’ve got three – quite lovely – pinafores/jumpers (whatever you would like to call them) listed. They are excellent layering pieces and the type of item that’s fun to have in your closet because they are so versatile. I’ve got quite a few of my own, as you probably already know. There is a sweet mini skirt as well, that if it fit me, I would have kept it. And the blouse I paired it with is also for sale…I think they go quite nicely together, to be honest. The black slinky dress is such a fun one, but hard to photograph (I hate photographing black). It’s hard to see, but it has a weaved waffle detailing on the bust and sleeves – upping the little black dress game. And last but not least, the camel wool skirt. Now that I look at it, I should have steamed it (eep!), but regardless of the odd crease, it’s an excellent piece for the cold months, and not to toot my own horn, but I like the way it makes my bod look from behind – shapes the bum quite splendidly and I only point that out because I am not that curvy of a woman, so this skirt is like a magic bum enhancing skirt.

Dream Girl

look_23Ashley Ording of Fancy Fine has been a styling inspiration to me for a long while now. So when I saw some sneak peaks of a shoot she had brought to fruition – styling pieces from her personal vintage collection on the strikingly beautiful Emily Theobald – I got real excited! The images are – just like the title states – dreamy (I mean, look at those pastel backgrounds!) And the styling is so perfectly 70s, it makes me wish I could wear each one of these outfits (yes! even the pants!) Ashley has a seriously to die for personal vintage collection, and with a keen eye for such decadent pieces that fill her closet, it’s any vintage loving gals dream. What I love most about her styling is how she pairs prints and textures in both autumnal shades and pastel spring feels, with such romantic and cozy layering, it feels both functional and glamorous at the same time. She is without a doubt at the top of my list for gals I am wholly inspired by.
