Nanushka AW ’14

Until very recently I had never heard of Hungarian designer Sandra Sandor and her label, Nanushka. I took quite a liking to this label almost immediately. The colors in her AW ’14 collection are absolutely to die for. I’m particularly smitten with the olive green garments paired with the beautiful salmon pieces – it’s like these two hues were mean’t for eachother (forever and ever, in holy matrimony). While I may dress pretty feminine most of the time, I generally try to incorporate some bit of men’s wear pieces into my outfits (button ups, oxford shoes et. al.), which is why I think this collection speaks to me. While the styling may feel a bit too normcore and sporty for my taste (save for a few), I could see myself having any one of these pieces in my wardrobe and styling them to my taste. All around it’s a fun collection with a lot of beautifully tailored pieces and just the right colors for Fall/Winter.

Marco Polo

DSC_0531I must admit, I am wholeheartedly excited about dressing for Fall right now. It’s really so fun to unearth pieces you have had hidden away in your closet for months (or buying new pieces, teehee). It has given me the breath of fresh air that I so desperately needed. Now, this pinafore, oh this pinafore! How do I love thee, let me count the ways. It has horses/polo players on it and is made from re-purposed vintage Ralph Lauren fabric. Cool right!? I wanted this pinafore from TLO when it came out last season, but someone snatched it up before me online. I’ll save the long story of how it came to be mine, but Casie, who was the original owner of this gem, gave it to me (we got to know eachother through instagram, and just so happen to both live in Toronto). The clothing gods shined down on me that day (or more like the angel Casie, thanks Casie! you doll!) I’m pretty excited to style this baby. I opted for a print on print look this time around. I swear to you, when people say you should buy basics to go with everything in your closet, ie. neutral colours, plain… they didn’t know what they were talking about. This thrifted Joe Fresh button up has been a god send to me, and a real wardrobe staple. It goes with so many things in my Fall/Winter wardrobe, it is silly. Anyways, this outfit feels like me. I love pattern mixing, which I barely did any of during the Summer, for whatever reason. I’m excited about this weather change right now…but I’m sure that feeling won’t last long.

Dear Creatures Fall 2014

cd16_zpsa997938bI thought I wouldn’t be excited for Fall to come, really and truly. I actually thought I’d be very, very bummed about it. It has been yet another idyllic Summer that I would be quite happy to have last forever. But then I remembered Fall clothes, and layers, and boots, and hats and a nip in the air (just a nip though), and pumpkin patches, and fallen leaves, and I’m excited (and and and). Maybe change is just always a welcome thing. To stay the same is to reject progress, or something like that. But honestly, for me, this Summer hasn’t been great (except for all the awesome photoshoots I worked on, that was great) I’ve been ill, several times, and then my dog passed away suddenly, and then it was one thing after another. My body and mind are both tired at this point. So I can’t wait for a change – a change in season, a change is pace, a change in my outlook. I have some pretty big life changes coming up (moving!), and planned for myself (stay tuned!). So I feel like there are things to look forward to. The cold weather doesn’t always need to be a bad thing. The plants are dying, yes, the sun will hide it’s bright, beautiful face for a lot more hours of the day, yes, but that doesn’t mean we need to make like nature.

Anyways, Dear Creatures Fall 2014 campaign got me excited about Fall, and the changing of seasons. They have always been one of my favorite brands, and this collection is no exception. I’m particularly loving their caramel colored fuzzy sweaters that would be absolutely perfect for cool walks in the park, and well, anything Fall-oriented.

Vivetta F/W ’14

vivetta-look-book-autumn-fall-winter-20147Vivetta‘s signature style has always been one of surrealism, vintage silhouettes, clean lines with an odd femininity to them. It’s a style I can really get down with. While it may not feel like Fall at all yet, and well, it isn’t Fall yet, I’m starting to figure out what sort of things I’d like to be wearing during the colder months. Vivetta F/W 2014 has been a real inspiration for me. Just because it’s fall/winter doesn’t mean we need to put away the bright hues. In fact, there may not be a better time than during the grey and dreary days to adorn ourselves in cheery colors. I love the pops of surrealism in Vivetta’s garments. It’s probably my favourite part, aside from the vintage inspired silhouettes. It’s the right amount of classic with an undeniable originality that makes them stand-out as a brand that is wholly it’s own. I’ve really been feeling matching sets lately (like the image above), and I think I’m going to need to find myself a few to add to my closet. Maybe I’ll even treat myself to a piece from this brand. Although, I’ll probably only be able to afford the hands collar, which is fine, because it’s basically the best thing ever created.

Fall Vibes

Blustery and Warm
——————————————

Today I thought I’d share come Fall goodness I have been coveting. I may already own something similar to all these items, but these are vibes I’m feeling this Fall/Winter. There are definitely some things way out of my price range, but as far as I’m concerned I could find most (if not all) of them at a thrift store for about 1/4 the price. However, I NEED the Samantha Pleet X Wolverine Blixen boots. My heart has been yearning for them since last season, and I’m not sure I want to fight it any longer.
