Photo Diary: Six Mile Lake / 1

Larkspur Vintage | Photo Diary: Six Mile Lake / 1This past weekend me and some of my best pals headed to Six Mile Lake to spend the weekend at a cottage celebrating Meaghan’s 30th birthday. I had actually been to this cottage two years ago, celebrating another friend’s 30th, so it was kind of strange to be back here and noticing how different and yet the same my life is. We got pretty lucky with some choice weather, and some eerily foggy mornings, that we certainly took full advantage of both mornings we woke there with sunrise canoe rides and a lot of laughs. I’ve decided to split this post into (most likely) three posts so I don’t bombard you with a big ol’ photo dump all at once, but I can’t wait (well obviously I can) to share the rest with you. It has been quite awhile since I posted a photo diary, or really, since I posted photos of anything other than myself. I’m still sticking to my wits that I don’t want to photograph a ton of my personal life like I used to when I first started this blog, but I do want to get back to sharing a bit more of my life, when it’s worth documenting, and the people that fill it with happiness.

3. Ryan helping out a boy trying to climb onto the rock.
4. While Ryan was jumping off cliffs and swimming, I took pictures of him and stood with just my feet in the water. It was freezing! No thanks.
5. Water for days and days and days.
6. Sitting on top of the cliffs at The Grotto. It may look like I was pondering the universe, but I was probably mad at Ryan because he wouldn’t stop trying to put his dirty, wet underwear in my backpack!
7. Ryan copying my very unimpressed face. We have pretty much no pictures together, and when we do, they look like this.
8. Ryan and I did a little photoshoot with my Pentax when we found a secluded area during our hike. Smart Ryan decided to also snap a few shots with my DSLR so we could see some of the images right away.
9. I was having the hardest time really capturing how lovely this toadstool was. The orange was so vibrant I saw it from a mile away…this is the best one I could get, and still doesn’t do it justice.
10. Hanging out on the beach after our 2.5hr hike around the Cyprus Lake trail. Yes, those are my resting feet…they always look pointed.
11. More beach hangs.
12. Ryan noticed a tree that was totally dead and ready to come down right in our campsite – giving it a little poke.
13. Mountain man.

2. Beach feet.
3. Blue skies and yellow umbrellas.
4. We spent a lot of time at the beach this past weekend, which is ironic since I’m a ginger who burns within 5 minutes of direct sunlight on the ol’ pale skin.
5. Beans, Ebony…she has a lot of names, and none of them really describe what a wonderful dog she is.
6. Playing his acoustic guitar again. It’s funny, I only seem to photograph him when he plays his acoustic, but he really loves his black and tan Les Paul the most, and plays it way more often.
7. They have burned all the trees in the “Tree Preservation Area”.
8. Tullah, oh wee Tullah. I swear to you, small fluffy dogs love me, they just know, at heart, I am one of them.
9. Just some pretties chillin at the beach.
10. Moody beach bum.
11.The tiniest pine cone. There was another picture we took with these wee pine cones, but it was out of focus, which is such a shame, it would have been a great pic.
12. He is always highly entertaining to take pictures of. I sometimes think he is more comfortable in front of the camera than I am.
