Nobody’s Baby

il_fullxfull.723654776_erqqI found Jenee Larson’s artwork through instagram quite a long while ago and was instantly taken by it. The first thing that struck me was her adorable little illustrations of toy poodles. If you have been reading this blog for a long while, then you know how much I love little fluffy dogs, so someone drawing them as adorable pink cutie pies is right up my alley. But once I started to browse her works, I found I loved so much about it- colourful, feminine, painfully cute, dark humoured, vintage-inspired, sexually suggestive – a mix of so many wonderful things, it’s hard not to fall head over heels. Now the difficult task of deciding which prints I would love to have for my own.

You can find a collection of her works here and you can shop some of them here.

Clueless

I apologize for the disappearing act last week (although, I kind of dislike when bloggers apologize for being busy, we are only human after all, and shouldn’t have to apologize for that), I am now back from Montreal, but things got a little hectic while I was there and I had very little time to write any posts. But I most definitely have lots of photos to share with you from my time there, so fret not.

I bought both this top and skort while in Montreal, which, when paired together feels very Cher Horwitz – not a style that is very common for me, but I’m kind of loving it. I also think it has been years since I have owned a skort, something I honestly thought I would never buy again, and now I’m wondering why I took me so long to accept it as a totally awesome article of clothing. For someone who loves being able to sit cross legged in the park in the warm months, it’s most definitely a practical piece to have in my wardrobe.

How was your weekend guys? Im going to spend time getting back to all your comments from last week, so don’t think I have forgotten about you

Bonjour, From Montreal!

Last Friday I made my way to Montreal, and I’ll be here until this coming Friday, spending time with my best friend Kristen and other MTL pals. The reason for my trip wasn’t totally for leisure, however. I have a couple dance shows this week in this lovely city, so I decided to make it an extended trip, ensuring I’d be able to have some fun with my best pal who I hadn’t seen in months, before I get busy this week with rehearsals and performances.

I decided to snap some photos of my new dress I purchased this past weekend in Kristen and Sergio’s flippin’ amazing kitchen. The outfit goes so perfectly with their kitchen and decor, it is like a match made in heaven.

How was your weekend? Let me know, I’d love to hear. Dress: vintage via Empire Exchange

Into It, Intimates / Lena Lena Lingerie

il_fullxfull.572497823_3z55What is it about bows on intimates that make them that much more appealing?! I mean, it is rather impractical for everyday wear (I’ve never been one for practicality though), and yet it seems like bows were mean’t for undergarments (and everything really) – like a wrapped present. So, it only made sense I fell for Lena Lena Lingerie almost instantly. Bows galore! Designer Elena is inspired by feminine sensuality and the charm it evokes, which is brought to life in her collection of sweet and sultry pieces that would make any woman feel her best. And how about that ivory bodysuit?! Any collection featuring one or more bodysuits is a collection I can get down with. Maybe it’s from the years and years (and years) of wearing bodysuits for dance classes, but I always get super excited when I see ones with interesting cuts and details.

My favourites: ivory lace high waisted panties, black lace bandeau, black strapless bra, admire me set, ivory bodysuit

A Dress for Always

I’ve had this pinafore since December, but am only getting around to photographing it now. To be honest, I think I only had only worn it once or twice before this, which is quite unusual for me, since I am notorious for wearing new pieces to death. I think the problem was, in my mind, it seemed way more holiday inspired than it actually is. So once the holiday season was over, I thought this pinafore might be too over the top. But after looking back at the photographs I took, I realized that the navy really pops (especially when paired with navy tights), and sort of cancels out the holiday-esque effect that red and green have together. Instead, it’s quite a striking colour combination, especially when photographed against light, muted tones, such as my lamp, wall hanging and stark white walls. Plus it matches our arm chair (which Beans LOVES, as you can see), so that’s an aesthetically pleasing bonus. Needless to say, this will not be one of my “only appropriate for holidays” dresses.

Do you guys have any pieces you avoid wearing and save for the holidays? Have you ever thought you couldn’t wear a piece because it was reminiscent of colour combinations associated with a specific holiday?
