Shop Update (!!!)

DSC_36651. Floral Longsleeve Collared Button-up Blouse (M)

Well it has been a long while since I updated the shop, but I spent all week adding new items, so here we are! I’m hoping to get back to my old routine and get the shop back to what is was, in all it’s colorful glory. As usual, we have florals, collars and high waists. Pop by the shop today to take a gander, maybe something will catch your eye.

Houndstooth, and other things

DSC_3723I have not had a free weekend in what seems like weeks. Mind you, I normally have Sundays free for whatever I like, but I consider a true free-of-work weekend when I have both Saturday and Sunday off. I cannot complain though, I spent most of Saturday styling another shoot for Gerald, which really doesn’t feel like work at all, but rather something that is fun and gets my creative juices flowing. The other half of the weekend was for blog and shop affairs. I’ll be honest, I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed with finding the time to really give my online shop the love and care it desperately needs – it’s down to the bare bones at this point. But I spent a few hours on Sunday photographing items to list all through the week and I’m hoping I can keep up with this and get back to where we were before I moved a huge amount of stock over to Odd Finds General Store and became busier than ever. I’ve also been feeling sort of uninspired with my writing recently, so we’ll just leave it at that for today.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Into It, Intimates / Alexandrea Anissa

lookbook-slide-01If there was one intimate brand my 16 yr old goth self would be totally over the moon for, Alexandrea Anissa would be it. And while I rarely wear black or anything that could be considered fetish-dominatrix-gothy apparel anymore, you can never really take the goth out of the girl, and so this brand is one I am very much into, even in my cheery-grandma-schoolgirl state. Most of the garments seem to be made for play rather than functionality, which could seem like an impractical buy, but things like that have never swayed me. I’d like to think these pieces are the sort of lingerie worn by the unsuspecting gal, and the lookbook (which I love!!!) and the model (whom I love!!!) do a wonderful job of capturing that girl and that feeling – all business on the outside, and playfully mischievous underneath.

My favorites: Ramona High Waist Keyhole Panty, Fawn Bralette, Dark Paradise High Waist Panty, Dark Paradise Lace Bra, Sheena Bralette Dot Mesh

Not a Daywalker

DSC_3372Last week I found a great spot to take pictures, similar to a secret garden, but I assume it eventually gets filled with water to become a pond, so I’m not sure for how long I can use this space. Another notable thing about these photos is that I wore my hair up! Just last week I talked about how I always wear my hair the same, so I thought I’d try something new. I quite like it. It will be a nice style for when the weather becomes really hot, and my hair loves to stick to my neck and forehead. This will be short and sweet today because I got an awful sunburn yesterday and I’m feeling very under the weather. A lot of red painful skin and I’m pretty sure I’m dehydrated. The woes of being a ginger. I’m usually very good at remembering sunscreen, because within 5 minutes of being in the sun I can turn into a lobster. But I forgot, and now I am a crustacean.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I’m going to slowly make my way to the drug store to get some aloe, because our little aloe plant has helped a wee bit, but we don’t want to kill her. I need an industrial sized bottle I think, much more than what little miss aloe can provide. I’m also planning on updating the shop this week. Something I have been having difficulty doing. Having stock in a shop and online has become difficult. I never quite know what I should add to the shop, and what should go online, so I’ve kind of just been avoiding restocking online. But I photographed some new stuff to add, so it just needs some washing and measuring. I’ll be in bed all day today, so it seems like the perfect time to do just that.

Into It, Intimates / Fortnight Lingerie SS’14

10402512_727633857278763_1454697453866578159_nMost intimates I own I have either thrifted or found at a vintage shop, but I have to say, good quality vintage under garments are not easy to come by. So I began to look for intimates that looked and had a vintage feel, but were actually new. Enter, Fortnight Lingerie, designed and manufactured here in Toronto (416 represent!) and the first independent brand of lingerie that I owned a lovely brassiere and pantie set from. Fortnight sort of began my obsession of searching for other independent lingerie brands with a similar aesthetic. Fortnight has a lovely, soft feminine vibe with incredibly durable craftsmanship. You can really wear their lingerie. When I wear my set, I never feel like they might get damaged. That’s important to me. While I own plenty of delicate intimates that I love dearly, they are mostly for show. Both are good, but if I am going to pay a pretty penny for a garment, I want it to be worth it, ie., get it’s wear and not fall apart in the process. The great thing about this brand is that it’s the sort of intimates you can wear under your clothing quite comfortably, but they have some great brassiere with enough coverage and cool color combinations that, if you so choose, you could wear a shear top and treat the bra as an outfit detail. It’s simple, feminine, quality pieces with just the right amount of interesting detail. I’ll always be a fan of this brand, not only because of my affinity to Toronto-made garments, but because you can really trust in the love and care that goes into each piece.

My favourites (from the newest collection): Luna Longline Champagne set, Vega Triangle Bra, Vega Longline Sky set, Mira Longline Peace/Sky set
