With grace in your heart, and flowers in your hair

To be honest, I don’t have much planned for this summer (I’m a big ol’ snooze). With Matt’s job, it’s difficult for us to plan a trip together. So I have booked only 1 week off from work thus far, and it may just turn out out to be a staycation, which, I am okay with, and which Gus will be overjoyed about. I’m leaving one week of vacation for a later time when maybe, just maybe, we can plan a trip somewhere together. Europe….I’m looking at you.
However, Meg, me and some of our other pals do plan to rent a cottage for a weekend (if all our schedules permit). I made a few pretend outfits that would be fun to bring to a cottage, for a little beachy time, a little small town stroll time, some woodsy time, and just plain lounging time. Maybe these outfits are a bit fancy for a cottage, and shoes will probably not even exist on me feets. But if you know me, I pretty much live in dresses, and I can’t help myself when I find cute virtual apparel to make fun virtual “ya, you wish!” outfits.

Shop Update: Sleepwear edition

1960s chiffon nightgown in lilac with lace pannelling

The shop update is smaller (by one item) this week, because we decided to focus mostly on some nightwear we’ve been hoarding. We added three amazing 1960s chiffon nighties as well as one pretty cute 1990s cotton number with a peterpan collar and cuffed sleeves! We snuck a 1980’s secretary style dress in there as well, but in the name of uniformity, I didn’t include it in this post. Go check them out!

Fortnight Lingerie

Disclaimer: I’ve totally posted about Fortnight before, but I realized the other day that it was to my old blog, and I felt like it was strange that it deserved a Larkspur post, since Alex and I both love this brand, and it’s Toronto based!

Fortnight is a longtime favorite of mine  – I discovered them when I was shopping at The Future of Frances Watson a couple of years ago, before I even lived in Parkdale, or knew how much I would love it someday. The fact that they are a Toronto based company makes the label that much closer to my heart. This is not actually their most recent collection (you can check it out here, though!), but I love this lookbook because they named all the pieces after some of my favourite songs. And without being creepy, this model is one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever even seen!

Project Dabda Benefit Show

dabda20

The turnout at the Project Dabda Benefit Show was amazing! I have always said, dancers are some of the most supportive people around, and last night proved me so very right. I am so happy for Alvin and Hayle, I don’t think they could have asked for a better night. Both Meg and I are so glad they asked us to take part. There is nothing I love more than a night of dance, Larkspur slinging, and supporting some wonderful humans.

The benefit was filled with amazing dancers (ahem, Emma Portner, Alvin Collantes, Taveeta Szymanowicz!!!), some local artwork, Tamerra Lynn Herres selling her goodies from L.L.A.M., some delicious snacks (those brownies!), PBR (again!), and of course, yours truly, selling our vintage.

We took as many photos as we could, but I spent a lot of time having my breath taken away (1,2,3,4, maybe 5 times) by all the talent, and eating snacks with Meg.

Big thanks again to Alvin and Hayle for supporting us, and all my dancing pals who came out. And of course Matt, for helping us pack and carry things! Oh! And Kira, for letting us borrow her car! This summer has started out great for Larkspur! Lots of exciting things ahead, including our lookbook that we will be shooting next weekend. So keep an eye out.
