While I’m in the midst of moving, things may be a little quiet around here until I get my internet switched over to the new place. I feel incredibly Irish while wearing this dress – green dress, red hair. I do have Irish in my blood, so it’s not totally off point that I’d feel Irish at times, especially in green. I’m not sure where I heard this – but I’m sure you have to – that redheads look best in green. I guess its the colour that compliments red hair most. I tend not to follow things like that. I don’t care much what looks best with my hair, I just wear what I like and ignore any rules. I picked this dress out from eShakti, and I only chose it because I liked the style, but once I put it on I really liked the way it made my hair pop. When eShakti contacted me to pick a garment from their website I was pretty excited. This company is great because they offer sizes 0-36W and custom clothing. Everyone’s body types are different, and it seems a bit insane to me that there are universal sizes that you must choose from or you’re out of luck. With eShakti you can pick the garment you like and customize the fit to your exact measurements. And on top that you are able to make changes to the garment. Want short sleeves? They can do that! You like midi length best? They can do that too. It’s a great idea and I wish more online shops would follow this system (it’s so hard to get a correct fit with online shopping! Am I right guys!?). With this dress I got 3/4 length sleeves because I thought it would be an excellent dress for the colder months, and I had it shortened because I’m going through a short dress/skirt phase right now.
If you are interested, you should definitely check them out. They carry a lot of retro and modern styles. I already have my eye on a few more things I’d love to add to my closet.

I took these images a couple weekends ago when I was putting off packing (I’ve been a procrastinator since always). The lighting was nice and since I started (almost a year ago) relying on myself to take my own pictures for this blog, I’ve really enjoyed learning new things about my camera and playing around with it. I almost always prefer to take my own images. Sure, it’s convenient to have someone else take your pictures, but I’m generally much happier with the results when I have done all the work myself (and that’s the control freak in me). I think that speaks volumes about my personality. I prefer to not have to rely on other people to get things done. If I could know how to do everything myself, that would be ideal. But it is impossible to be able to know and do everything. And often times it’s great to have help from others – it’s good to relinquish control from time to time, for your sanity. I’m still learning to do this in all aspects of my life, as I’m sure many people are. Anyways, just a few thoughts for today.
I must admit, I am wholeheartedly excited about dressing for Fall right now. It’s really so fun to unearth pieces you have had hidden away in your closet for months (or buying new pieces, teehee). It has given me the breath of fresh air that I so desperately needed. Now, this pinafore, oh this pinafore! How do I love thee, let me count the ways. It has horses/polo players on it and is made from re-purposed vintage Ralph Lauren fabric. Cool right!? I wanted this pinafore from TLO when it came out last season, but someone snatched it up before me online. I’ll save the long story of how it came to be mine, but Casie, who was the original owner of this gem, gave it to me (we got to know eachother through instagram, and just so happen to both live in Toronto). The clothing gods shined down on me that day (or more like the angel Casie, thanks Casie! you doll!) I’m pretty excited to style this baby. I opted for a print on print look this time around. I swear to you, when people say you should buy basics to go with everything in your closet, ie. neutral colours, plain… they didn’t know what they were talking about. This thrifted Joe Fresh button up has been a god send to me, and a real wardrobe staple. It goes with so many things in my Fall/Winter wardrobe, it is silly. Anyways, this outfit feels like me. I love pattern mixing, which I barely did any of during the Summer, for whatever reason. I’m excited about this weather change right now…but I’m sure that feeling won’t last long.

Finally sharing just a few images from our hike on our second day in Bruce Peninsula National Park. Since I had been here last Summer I knew I had to show Ryan all the amazing parts of the park. Number one on the list, The Grotto. Last summer we went during black fly season, so The Grotto was unbearable, but in late August, not a black fly to be found. This is a good thing because, well, no nasty black fly bites, but not so good because ALOT of people were around. I’ll talk more about The Grotto in another post though. All these images are from our hike up to it. If you have been following this blog for awhile, then you know how much I love hiking. Next to dancing, it is my happy place. That may sound odd, cause well, it’s just walking. But to me it’s far more than that. The harder the walk, the better. If I have to climb things, and figure out how to maneuver my body around obstacles and if there is an element of danger, well, that’s my jam. I have sort of talked before about having complete trust in my body and mind, and they often feel totally at one with eachother. And like I said in that post, I believe dancing has made me feel totally at ease with my body and it’s abilities. I just trust it, wholly. So, hiking till I die (hopefully not literally). And of course, I couldn’t leave home without my very Boy Scout-esque hiking uniform. It may make me nerdy to dress like this, and I do get the odd look here and there, but generally I am met with “oh, you look so cute!” and “i like your outfit.”. But if I had ever spent a minute of my life caring about what other people thought of me, well I would not dress or look or be the person I am today. Just bee yourself! (Aladdin, anyone?!)
