Nobody’s Baby

il_fullxfull.723654776_erqqI found Jenee Larson’s artwork through instagram quite a long while ago and was instantly taken by it. The first thing that struck me was her adorable little illustrations of toy poodles. If you have been reading this blog for a long while, then you know how much I love little fluffy dogs, so someone drawing them as adorable pink cutie pies is right up my alley. But once I started to browse her works, I found I loved so much about it- colourful, feminine, painfully cute, dark humoured, vintage-inspired, sexually suggestive – a mix of so many wonderful things, it’s hard not to fall head over heels. Now the difficult task of deciding which prints I would love to have for my own.

You can find a collection of her works here and you can shop some of them here.

Photo Diary: Montreal Part 2

Processed with VSCOcam with n3 presetHere is part 2 of my Montreal photo diary! The photo above has reminded me that I want to eat fresh baked treats more often. Sitting with Kristen at Rustique, relaxing, sipping coffees and eating those delicious sweets was a real pleasure, and something I never think to do here in Toronto. So, noted! Cafe chill times is a must for me.

It seems as though I pulled out my iPhone far more than my DSLR on this trip, mostly out of convenience, but also because I didn’t want to be the gal constantly pulling out my big camera and taking time to get a perfect photo everywhere we went. Most of my Toronto friends know I try to document as much as possible with my DSLR when I’m out and about, but when you only get to see your best friend a few times a year, focusing so much energy on what would be good content for the blog seems insignificant, so my iPhone felt like the more reasonable option. I guess it really doesn’t matter, but I feel like I have read something similar on other’s blogs, that iPhones feel way more convenient when you are running about town, but still want to document the day.

What do you guys think? Do iPhones (or any other smart phone) seem like a legitimate photographic tool. Or are we just succumbing to the fast paced nature of our society?

Photo Diary: Montreal Part 1

I had such a busy, wonderful time in Montreal. It seems each time I visit I have a different experience that suits all aspects of myself. I’ve had some of my most memorable moments whilst in Montreal – making new friends, letting loose and staying up way past my bedtime because there is too much fun to be had. This time around it was a bit more laid back and relaxed, which is just as well because I wasn’t only there for pleasure (dancing is an exhausting thing, guys). Getting to spend an entire week with Kristen was the best. Going from living with someone and seeing them each and everyday to seeing them only a few times a year is a big bummer, especially when it’s someone as awesome as Kristen. As cheese as it sounds, whenever I spend time with her I feel like the best version of myself. I wish I could take a piece of her with me back to Toronto (okay okay, enough of the sappy sap).

I managed to get quite a few snaps on both my DSLR and iPhone of random things we saw and did during the week, so here is numeraux un.

Clueless

I apologize for the disappearing act last week (although, I kind of dislike when bloggers apologize for being busy, we are only human after all, and shouldn’t have to apologize for that), I am now back from Montreal, but things got a little hectic while I was there and I had very little time to write any posts. But I most definitely have lots of photos to share with you from my time there, so fret not.

I bought both this top and skort while in Montreal, which, when paired together feels very Cher Horwitz – not a style that is very common for me, but I’m kind of loving it. I also think it has been years since I have owned a skort, something I honestly thought I would never buy again, and now I’m wondering why I took me so long to accept it as a totally awesome article of clothing. For someone who loves being able to sit cross legged in the park in the warm months, it’s most definitely a practical piece to have in my wardrobe.

How was your weekend guys? Im going to spend time getting back to all your comments from last week, so don’t think I have forgotten about you

Beauty / My New Favourite Mascara

Up until very recently I had been using the same mascara for years, for no particular reason other than I’m a creature of habit and picking up that same mascara every time made my tendency to be indecisive far less debilitating. I didn’t give much thought to whether it enhanced my lashes to their full potential or not, and to be honest, I never much concerned myself with that because I have quite long, full lashes that often get mistaken for falsies. But, for one reason or another, I decided to pick up a different mascara and see how it worked for me. And oh boy, was there ever a difference! Enter, L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara, a silly name really, but to be honest, quite accurate. If I thought my lashes looked long and full before, this mascara enhanced them in such a significant way. An added bonus is that it lasts way longer than my previous mascara, so I don’t feel the need to apply more throughout the day, and it doesn’t clump! Thank god! I have a tendency to apply quite a lot of mascara because of my ginger, almost invisible lashes, so the fact that it does not clump is a life saver for those of us who need quite a bit of mascara to actually prove we have lashes.

If you are looking for a new mascara, I can’t suggest this one more. I didn’t think I’d ever be so excited about mascara in my life (what has my life come to!?), but here we are. A whole post dedicated to it.
