Velvet & Cable Knit

It’s hard to come by a good cable knit pullover. Depending on how you like the fit, it can seem like an endless expedition to find the right one. That being said, I have a pretty great one in the shop today. If you’re not really an over-sized pullover kind of person, this one checks off all the boxes in terms of color, fit and warmth. I also listed some pretty sweet velvety softness (makes you want to touch your own thighs all day), and an amazing 1940’s dress. When I’m wearing it I honestly feel like it takes me back to the Dust Bowl days. Pairing it with the Blixen Boots, it’s like a Dust Bowl match made in heaven. And last but NOT least…the novelty print dress. GAH! If this dress fit me, it would be going nowhere. I originally bought it for myself without trying it on (stupid). I was obsessed the second I saw it. It’s just the right amount of sweet with weirdness. Its glorious! Come check out the shop today. These items want to come home with you!

Bonjour! Un Shop Update

edit1….1970’s Rust High Waisted A-Line Skirt (S/M)

It feels like every time I take listing photos for the shop, a thunderstorm rolls in. What is this curse? So once again, the lighting in these photos leaves much to be desired. But what can a girl do? These are the woes of a girl who cannot afford a shop studio just yet, and thus, lovely natural light can be few and far between when the sun does not hit my apartment windows quite right (or at all). Anyways!! This week I have two very lovely skirts! The polka dot baby was actually from my very own wardrobe, but I decided to let her go. She deserves a lot more wear than I was giving her. Oh, and then these adorable 1960’s powder pink ruffle bloomers! Eep! So darling. They need a good vintage negligee loving home. As does the robe. I love this robe, I do. But my hoarding of robes needs to come to an end (it won’t though).

I hope everyone has a very lovely Thursday! Come virtually visit the shop today. Maybe something will catch your eye!

Fall is here at Larkspur

I updated the shop with some warm fall goodies today. The two wool skirts are such gems, it was a bit hard for me to decide to part ways with them. However, I own a few too many patterned skirts and thought I would just share the patterned skirt wealth. Pop by the shop and take a gander at what is new (and old).

Girl About Town

dc7

While browsing the Dear Creatures website, I was pleased to see they have released their Autumn/Winter 2013 campaign: Girl About Town. As usual, and surprising no one (certainly not me), it’s ever so lovely. The hair (omg, kind of makes me want to take a pair of scissors to my head), giant eye lashes, bright red lips and vintage inspired garb, sets the mood for a sultry 1960’s ice cream eating bookworm babe running around New York City. This gal here is more than meets the eye – she’s always happy to be on the move alone, kind of quiet, to the point where she may seem disinterested, but get to know her and she’s an impeccably charming gal with a weird sense of humor. She’s perpetually surprising. She can change a car tire and snorts when she laughs.

But he’s a ranga sir!

a

Growing up, I hated my red hair. It didn’t go with my vision of who I thought I was. Like c’mon, a goth girl cannot have natural red hair?!  It’s just not interesting and weird enough, you know. I’ve had fire engine red hair, black hair, green hair, blonde hair and white hair throughout my teens. I thought those colours were far more interesting than what I was birthed with. But when I got older, and really looked at the reasons why I absolutely refused to keep my natural hair colour (sorry mom and dad), it was rooted somewhere in bullying. Children just do not appreciate a ginger headed gal (or guy). They are different, and children love to prey on different. At least, that was the experience I had.  I guess subconsciously, I decided to hate the very thing about me that did make me somewhat different (physically), which throughout my teens, was all I wanted to be. How is that for irony?

I grew to appreciate the rarity of red hair, and I dont think I could take a bottle of liquid chemicals to my head again (sometimes I do miss blonde hair though). It’s nice to grow older, and just accept yourself wholly, and laugh at the moments when young idiotic boys would ask: “Do the curtains match the rug?” Sure do kid, sure do.
