ACT THREE. AW ’15 Lookbook

Act Three Lookbook | Model and Stylist Alexandra Spence | photographer Danielle SuzanneI’m so excited to finally be able to share with you ACT THREE.‘s AW ’15 lookbook that I styled and modelled for back when snow was still very much on the ground (ugh! let’s not even think about that). If you follow me on instagram, then you have already seen images here and there, but if you don’t (you probably should though), then this will all be new to you.

Sarah McGowan, founder and designer of ACT THREE. wanted to create a line of accessible vintage inspired garments for petite women (5’4″ and under) like herself, and so was born Act Three and this adorable collection of varying styles of dresses that I honestly want to own each and every one of. Unfortunately friends, she doesn’t have her own online shop (although maybe one day), but her stockists at the moment will be Victoire and Coal’s Miner’s Daughter and they both have online shops, so be sure to check check check when her pieces are available to nab yourself something.

I really love the black button up with contrasting white collar and the black & white polkadot with a high neck tie. What are you favourites?!

We took plenty, and I thought it could be fun to share some that didn’t make the cut. Let me know!

Behind The Scenes / Three Little Honey Bees

If you follow me on instagram, then you probably already know I styled another editorial with Gerald last weekend. This shoot was slightly reminiscent of the first shoot I ever did with Gerald, The Anderson Sisters, and I really cannot wait until we can release the photos, it was a truly wonderful shoot. The day was spent at High Park with Gerald working his magic, the beautiful Annya art directing, Holly Kurmis of Hot Makeup making the gals look even more stunning with hair and makeup, myself styling some gems and of course the three honey-haired beauties, Mila (Peggi Lepage), Lauren (Spot 6) and M.K. (Anita Norris Models).

Normally when I style shoots I tend to use a lot of vintage that is either from my personal wardrobe or from my shop, but this time around I wanted to feature some independent designers and shops. I had pieces from Samantha Pleet, The Aspen Tree Vintage, Fortnight Lingerie, She and Reverie, Heart of Gold Designs and of course my personal stuff. I think the mix of vintage and new looked awesome together, and I especially love how the matchy-ish yellow and white outfits turned out.

Following Nature

031_8I met Heather Wells, designer of these exquisite headpieces and the creator behind Heart of Gold Designs, through instagram last summer. Her headpieces are made from vintage and precious materials crafted into these incredibly romantic and ethereal pieces that would make any gal (or guy) feel like an elegant, otherworldly creature. I knew I would want to shoot some of her pieces at some point and luck would have it that Meaghan and I had envisioned a shoot like this almost one year ago (except with a lot more snow…snow, she’s never there when you need her), so Heather’s pieces felt like the perfect fit once we finally brought this shoot to fruition. I’m pretty happy with how the images turned out. Meaghan and I took turns behind and in front of my pentax on this somewhat mild winter day.

Dream Girl

look_23Ashley Ording of Fancy Fine has been a styling inspiration to me for a long while now. So when I saw some sneak peaks of a shoot she had brought to fruition – styling pieces from her personal vintage collection on the strikingly beautiful Emily Theobald – I got real excited! The images are – just like the title states – dreamy (I mean, look at those pastel backgrounds!) And the styling is so perfectly 70s, it makes me wish I could wear each one of these outfits (yes! even the pants!) Ashley has a seriously to die for personal vintage collection, and with a keen eye for such decadent pieces that fill her closet, it’s any vintage loving gals dream. What I love most about her styling is how she pairs prints and textures in both autumnal shades and pastel spring feels, with such romantic and cozy layering, it feels both functional and glamorous at the same time. She is without a doubt at the top of my list for gals I am wholly inspired by.

Behind The Scenes / Winter Whimsy

DSC_1250On Saturday I made my way over to Brantford, ON to style and work on another photoshoot with Gerald, Annya and our model Emma. About 1 month ago I was given some pieces from Mode Laboratory’s SS 2015 collection and was waiting for the perfect time to use them. While the pieces are indeed Spring/Summer I thought they worked splendidly with our wintery photoshoot. There is something so magical about winter landscapes and a model adorned in white and pastel pieces. Mode Laboratory’s pieces are whimsical in and of themselves and I think they were a match made in heaven for the work that Gerald produces. I’m uncertain when I’ll be able to show you the final images, but for now, here are a few behind the scene photos I took during the shoot.
