The White Pepper has got me really excited about Spring. So much that I might implode if Winter continues for much longer. I long for days when I can choose an outfit in the morning and know it won’t be covered by layers of cardigans and coats and scarves. The more I get to know myself and my style, the more I realize I much prefer dressing for Spring/Summer. I never get bored with it – it never feels totally repetitive. While I love the idea of dressing for Winter (this doesn’t really include Fall, since it isn’t cold enough to consistently need a coat, and it’s too short a season) I find I become wholly uninspired. Not every dress looks good with tights, I don’t own a cardigan for every outfit, and while I love hats, they can become really annoying when you have to wear them! The White Pepper is really feeding my desire for muted pastels, warm sunny days, flowers (!!!), bare legs and socks, and my always favourite, summery pinafores with collared blouses. What it comes down to is we can be more detailed oriented in the Spring & Summer. I live for details…I think that’s why I love it so much.

Cold weather outfits we love
This week has been totally insane for Alex and I. We’ve been busy with, what might be, the most ill-timed apartment swap situation of all time. That’s done now though, and we’re a little freer to get into the holiday spirit by doing things like baking cookies, drinking mulled wine and wrapping Christmas presents.
Last night we shot Larkspur’s first lookbook, which we’ll be giving you a sneak peek of on Thursday, and we’re so excited about it. Kira worked her magic, just like we knew she would, and made everyone and everything look even better than we’d hoped! So stay tuned for that.
Today I’m at home sick with tonsillitis, so you’ll have to forgive me if most of the outfit photos I’ve rounded up involve big comfy sweaters, or warm looking coats.
My plan is to spend the rest of this day swaddled in blankets reading blogs, drinking tea and watching Christmas movies. I hope you’re all ready for my favorite time of year!

Take This Waltz
During the summer Matt and I stayed a night at his parents home in the Beaches in the East end of Toronto. We went to see Take This Waltz at the Fox Theatre. The Fox Theatre opened in 1914 and is the oldest running movie theatre in Canada. I would eventually like to do a post on this theatre as it is absolutely amazing, but I felt like sharing some of Michelle Williams wonderful outfits from this movie first.
Take This Waltz is an absolutely heartbreaking coming of age story that is at times uncomfortable. I won’t go into a synopsis about it because I am not a movie critic, but I would definitely recommend it. The movie is also filmed and set in Toronto, which I felt was nice, being a Torontonian myself. But the one thing that held my attention throughout was the adorable dresses, rompers, high waisted shorts and stripes that she wore in the movie. She flip flops between being a little tomboy-ish, to wearing adorable 1960’s-7o’s summery dresses. I thought that was rather nice, as I have such troubles not constantly dressing like a textbook version of a girl. Her outfits felt effortless to me, in the best way possible. Any movie I see Michelle Williams in, I tend to believe whatever she wears/however she acts, is very close to her true self.
You should definitely give the movie a watch, not only for her adorable outfits, but for the great story line as well.
