1. I got this coat from my best friend Kristen a few years back. I’ve held onto it for a long time while never really wearing it because I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I’m kind of obsessed with it these days, and that is a perfect example of why I am a clothing hoarder.
2. Just the sun giving us a little peek through the trees. Hey sun!
3. Ryan and I love Grand Electric, although we tend to get takeout over eating at the restaurant – the wait time for a table at this place can be absurd. However, we got lucky the other day, arriving just before dinner. I ordered 4 crispy cauliflower tacos and one GE Sour. Always the same. I’m nothing if not consistent.
4. The beautiful waterfront in Barrie.
5. A lone log stranded at “Garbage Beach”.
6. Ryan says every picture I take and post of him he is wearing basically the same outfit. I told him this is okay, he is like Karl Lagerfeld.
7. Kayaks and canoes, which I’m sure will get some use if this weather continues.
8. I remember the first time I made him smile and laugh before we knew eachother or shared words. I don’t remember the funny thing I said, but that smile has stayed with me. Sometimes I like to think about that time and how out of a group of my friends, his laugh, the single person I didn’t know, was the only one that stood out to me.

Secret / Ellen Rogers
I like the feeling I get whenever I go through Ellen Rogers’ work. It spooks me and chills me straight to the bone. It feels haunting and possessed like the genre of films I cannot, and will not watch. Yet, I have a hard time looking away from her work. There is so much detail, so much richness and thought put into each image, even if it creeps me out a bit (or alot), I can’t help but see how truly beautiful, and wholly itself it is. Not only does she shoot at locations that feel like the setting of a demonic possession, but the models she works with have the most haunting and striking features. Nothing gets overlooked, every part of each image feels on purpose, and I like that about it. It shows you the difference between someone who just fiddles with their camera and gets lucky (me, most of the time), and someone who really lives and breathes and masters their art. If you have not already looked through her work, both commissions and personal, I highly suggest it.

1. Ryan & Gus – these two together melt my heart.
2. This summer I want to improve my green thumb so that I can have more than just fake flowers in the house.
3. Lola – I miss the days when she and Gus were best pals, before they got sisters.
4. However, Frankie is one of the most hilarious dogs, and she currently looks like a fluffy teddy bear.
5. Toronto isn’t the best about preserving it’s history, but sometimes you’ll look to the tops of buildings and see what once was.
6. Meaghan – We went for a walk to get coffee on a day that felt especially like Spring. I’m looking forward to days spent outdoors with this girl.
7. The Dollar Store sometimes feeds my candle obsession when I am too busy poor to get the good stuff.
8. This guys gets away with murder. He stole a loaf of bread off the table yesterday – I’m getting better at letting him know I’m not pleased, but a part of me has trouble ever being really upset with him.
9. Upjeet – My oldest and dearest friend just let me know he will be moving to Toronto come September with his better half. I couldn’t possibly be more excited. We haven’t lived in the same city in 7 years.
10. Cleo & Maya – I miss these two a lot…mostly Cleo. But, don’t feel bad for Maya, she is indifferent towards me. The only person she has a connection with is my father.

1. I love the way hyacinth makes the whole apartment smell like Spring.
2. What better way to have a cup of tea at the end of a long day than with a kitty friend.
3. I can never pass up a good antique perfume/cologne bottle.
4. My favorite kitty figurine – so sultry.
5. Gertie needs a hair cut pretty badly – her eyes are the sweetest part of her. It’s a shame when you can’t see them.
6. If I can’t go to the trees, why not bring them to me?
7. A vintage tap dance costume – did you know I can also tap dance?
8. Ryan’s acoustic guitar – this one holds a special place in my heart. I think I knew I loved him when I first heard him play this thing one quiet (hungover) morning.
9. Gus has a way of finding the silliest places to sit – it’s part of his charm.
Belle Vie / 01
I’m starting a new weekly (hopefully) series, of photographs I’ve taken with my film and digital cameras of my sort-of everyday life. The intent is to get my camera out more often, work on my own skills, and as I had mentioned in a previous post, have more authentic, original work being shared in this space. This week is mostly portraits of people (and dogs) I deeply cherish, which wasn’t really on purpose, but I like it. Of course it’s not everyone that has a huge place in my heart, but at this point, these are the people (and animals) I see most. With winter hopefully coming to a close, I’m hoping to have an abundance of things to share in this series, since at this point, I don’t leave home much.
