It was quite a busy weekend. I had my dance show Saturday evening, which went splendidly, and I am pretty sad that it is over now. The whole show felt like it flew by, and when it was finished, I couldn’t really believe it. I feel so lucky and privileged to have been a part of it. I am forever inspired by the talented people around me, and by the dancers who move in a way that makes my heart flutter.

Yesterday Matt and I woke up early, got some brunch and then took Gus for a walk at Old Mill. I say walk, but what I really mean is carry, as Gus isn’t much of a walker. We also learned that he does not take too kindly to the camera. As soon as the camera was in front of Matt’s face, Gus was growling and barking as if Matt had transformed into a menacing monster that may attack at any given moment. The normal things that would upset a dog do not bother Gus – vacuums, bigger dogs, thunder (well, hes deaf, to be fair). But things like piled garbage bags, pillows, his own toys, and now apparently cameras, do.

This evening I plan to have dinner with Meaghan and catch up. I had been so busy with dance for the last month I don’t feel like I have seen any humans outside of the Pandora cast and Matt.

Shop Update

1960’s/70’s  Pastel Floral Sleeveless Blouse

Another Thursday, another shop update! This week (not on purpose), we have quite a bit of liberty print! Just perfect for this Spring-ish weather. I have become quite obsessed with the 1960’s/70’s pastel blouse pictured above! It is truly adorable, and makes me feel all mod-twiggy-flower power. So, we would love to see it go to a new happy home.

And just a reminder, we still have our $50 (USD) Giveaway going on over at Olive My Love.  So, if you see anything you like, be sure to enter the contest!

When I saw these images circulating the internet last week I was particularly delighted. It was so refreshing to see a shoot styled entirely with vintage pieces, in a way that I myself don’t think I would have the courage to do. Mixing like two patterns scares me, let alone several. But everything feels so right. The mix and match styling of the whole shoot has a playing-dress-up feel. And model Xiao Wen has such a young, fresh(drop dead gorgeous) face it really brings everything together. Don’t get me wrong, there is a sense of sophistication here, but there is a definite innocent and light-hearted feel to the whole.

The shoot brings me back to my childhood of rummaging through my closet putting on any and all of my favorite things – Elmo t-shirt, tiered ruffly skirt, mismatched socks and my trusty wooden spoon used as a microphone to perform Madonna songs for my family.

Something Blue

DSC_1301

My parents were in town visiting for the weekend, which was a true pleasure because I really don’t get to see them very often. What little time we had together was spent eating delicious pizza (Pizza Libretto), watching a movie, brunching and making silly jokes. I was sad to see them go yesterday, as I always am.

I’ve been so busy lately with my upcoming show, and to top it off, I injured my leg during a rehearsal and got quite ill for a day last week. But there is not much time for me to rest up, the show is less than 2 weeks away, and if you know me personally, I’m not the best at giving myself a break, even when I probably need it the most. Although, I say that, but most of last night was spent on the couch with Matt, watching Girls, Enlightened and The Americans.

The skirt I’m wearing is actually one we plan to list in our shop. The clasps at the waistband need some repairing, so once I have the chance to sit down and sew, you should see it in the shop in the next coming weeks. It really is a lovely skirt. I think I wore it like 3 times last week.
