Dust Bowl Dance

With no snow on the ground, it means a lot more time spent at the park with Gus, and less time watching him lose the ability to use his wee legs and tip over like he has been paralysed.  Since his surgery, it’s really been difficult getting him back into the swing of things. He was a dog who absolutely loved off-leash parks and playing with other pups. But after his surgery (and once the snow was gone), he just seemed so timid. He’d stick by my legs and was not the Blitzing Bichon that we all know and love. Thankfully, with Matt having some time off work, he’s been a great papa and brings him to the park almost daily. I got to see him live in action this weekend just sprinting around the park, and I couldn’t have been more pleased.

Despite the cold on Saturday we spent some time letting Gus do his thing, and letting me be silly for the camera. It was probably the worst day to be wearing a hat (wind!!!), but well, we know how I feel about hats as of late. The wind will not thwart my efforts to be a hatted dame.

Listen to the wind blow

I think this may have been the first weekend in a long time that I did not have to set my alarm. I still did though. Sleeping in was a much welcomed event at the Gus & Alex Everglades Residence.

Olivia was in town this weekend, so Meg and I spent some time with her, eating Pho (surprise, surprise), having drinks and never making it out to bars because we were too chatty. In between fun with Olivia and Meaghan’s new love for yoga, we found some time to thrift for the shop. We are both pretty excited about our finds! There are a few things that may need to be pried from my hands. This floral dress I’m wearing being one of them. Expect to see it in the shop in the next coming weeks.

It was quite a busy weekend. I had my dance show Saturday evening, which went splendidly, and I am pretty sad that it is over now. The whole show felt like it flew by, and when it was finished, I couldn’t really believe it. I feel so lucky and privileged to have been a part of it. I am forever inspired by the talented people around me, and by the dancers who move in a way that makes my heart flutter.

Yesterday Matt and I woke up early, got some brunch and then took Gus for a walk at Old Mill. I say walk, but what I really mean is carry, as Gus isn’t much of a walker. We also learned that he does not take too kindly to the camera. As soon as the camera was in front of Matt’s face, Gus was growling and barking as if Matt had transformed into a menacing monster that may attack at any given moment. The normal things that would upset a dog do not bother Gus – vacuums, bigger dogs, thunder (well, hes deaf, to be fair). But things like piled garbage bags, pillows, his own toys, and now apparently cameras, do.

This evening I plan to have dinner with Meaghan and catch up. I had been so busy with dance for the last month I don’t feel like I have seen any humans outside of the Pandora cast and Matt.

Something Blue

My parents were in town visiting for the weekend, which was a true pleasure because I really don’t get to see them very often. What little time we had together was spent eating delicious pizza (Pizza Libretto), watching a movie, brunching and making silly jokes. I was sad to see them go yesterday, as I always am.

I’ve been so busy lately with my upcoming show, and to top it off, I injured my leg during a rehearsal and got quite ill for a day last week. But there is not much time for me to rest up, the show is less than 2 weeks away, and if you know me personally, I’m not the best at giving myself a break, even when I probably need it the most. Although, I say that, but most of last night was spent on the couch with Matt, watching Girls, Enlightened and The Americans.

The skirt I’m wearing is actually one we plan to list in our shop. The clasps at the waistband need some repairing, so once I have the chance to sit down and sew, you should see it in the shop in the next coming weeks. It really is a lovely skirt. I think I wore it like 3 times last week.

Oh the weather outside is weather

DSC_0874

We were hit with another snowfall this weekend, which meant a lot of indoor time spent with my recuperating dog, friends and Matt. You’d think because I grew up in Ottawa I would be used to an abundance of snow and sub zero temperatures and I would be able to brave this weather, but I am a wimp. Going outdoors at this point is mostly meant for getting from one location to another. In my case, dance rehearsals and eating pho mostly. I have a dance show coming up March 16th, called Pandora’s Box, in which I will be performing the role of Pandora. If you are in Toronto, you should definitely come see it. There is such great talent  here, and I feel so lucky to be dancing beside such wonderful and inspiring people.

It is Family Day today, which means no work for Meg and I. Although, we have been keeping busy with steaming clothes and taking photos of some new items for our shop this week. We have some pretty cute Easter dresses to share, so keep an eye out.
