Come on get down with the sickness (Richard Cheese version)

DSC_0975

Well, I came down with quite the illness – one that I am all too familiar with. Since always, I have had issues with my god awful tonsils. They are incapable of doing their job (which is to fight illness) and leave me, at least 4 times a year, totally bed ridden, sounding like a weird frog, and unable to consume anything. This time around wasn’t quite as bad, since I managed to avoid needing emergency care for severe dehydration.  However, it looks like the end is near (hopefully). I have an appointment to see a specialist about having these stupids removed from me. It could solve my never-ending problem, or it may not…but it’s worth a try in my humble opinion.

I felt well enough today to get out of bed and snap some photos. They were very as is though – no make up, hair freshly washed/unbrushed, and wearing some of my very favourite underthings by Fortnight Lingerie (okay, that’s not as is, I put those on for the photos). I figured, if I’m not feeling well, why not just shoot myself the way I am at this very moment, no fussing, just a pale sick gal and her pretty (toronto-made!!) lingerie.

Disclaimer: I’ve totally posted about Fortnight before, but I realized the other day that it was to my old blog, and I felt like it was strange that it deserved a Larkspur post, since Alex and I both love this brand, and it’s Toronto based!

Fortnight is a longtime favorite of mine  – I discovered them when I was shopping at The Future of Frances Watson a couple of years ago, before I even lived in Parkdale, or knew how much I would love it someday. The fact that they are a Toronto based company makes the label that much closer to my heart. This is not actually their most recent collection (you can check it out here, though!), but I love this lookbook because they named all the pieces after some of my favourite songs. And without being creepy, this model is one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever even seen!

For a list of retailers, check out their website!

Betina Lou A/W 2012-13

Betina Lou8

Betina Lou could be one of my favorite labels to-date. Montreal-based designer, Marie-Eve Emond launched Betina Lou in 2009 and I’m so happy she did. She mixes elements of meanswear with the aesthetic of historic female fashion icons to create perfectly simple, classic and feminine looks. It’s as if she entered my brain and designed everything I would like to own/wear! Thank you Marie-Eve!

The Patsy Dress has been taunting me every time I take a peek in The Future of Frances Watson (a store located in our little Parkdale neighborhood). Each separate piece is a classic staple (in my opinion) on its own and can be mixed and matched perfectly with the entire collection. The styling seems totally effortless in the best way possible. And that little brown beret is probably one of my favorite things!!!
