I think this could be the very first time I am wearing trousers in an outfit post. While my wardrobe is predominantly skirts and dresses, I do actually own a few pairs of trousers, one pair of jeans (which I bought recently and are flared highwaisted 70s dreams) and some other pants I’ve had for years that I’ll wear, say, when I’m walking the dog, cleaning the house…etc. I own these things, and yet they often collect dust or are my ‘I don’t care if they get ruined’ clothes. This is mostly because I don’t really feel much like myself when I wear pants, so they often get ignored as a viable option for outfits. But every time I see that sort of cool, late 60s look of cigarette trousers and a casual untucked fitted top (Mad Men, I’m talking about you…), I wish to myself that I owned more pairs of that style, because those pants actually feel like me – casual, but not lazy, dresses down and yet still pulled together. These pants I’m wearing feel pretty darn close to that style, although I do wish they were a bit higher waisted, but meh, we can’t win em all I guess.

Jeremy Scott Fall 2015

Is it really a surprise that I absolutely love Jeremy Scott’s Fall 2015 collection? No, not really. It embodies all things I truly adore and have made abundantly clear by now – the 60s, colours, playful femininity, dresses, matching sets, mary janes…the list could go on. As I had mentioned, I recently styled a shoot for a new designer and I used a lot of fun, coloured tights to play up the dresses and give that awesome (and ever popular) 60s french new wave vibe. So bright tights have been on my mind and even more so after seeing this collection. I’ve always shied away from personally wearing colourful tights, yet I own a ridiculous amount of brightly hued ones. To me, it has to be done right or it looks insane, so I guess thats where my hesitation comes from. Bright colours and a lot of colour can seem scary, but if done right, it can look so visually striking, it’s nearly impossible to look away. Jeremy Scott did this for me. I can’t stop scrolling back and forth and wishing these outfits were my own.

Red Valentino Pre-Fall 2015

There is no surprise at this point that I am a big fan of Red Valentino – I’ve shared countless collections of theirs by now. It’s hard for me to pick a favourite season, but this one might just be it (maybe). It is distinctly influenced by the late 60s to 70s, what with it’s vibrant psychedelic patterns, sweet peter pan collars and shift shapes, but it still has the classic, ultra girly feel that every Red Valentino collection upholds. And how about those lace Edwardian-style collars tied with a bow? I need one asap!

Shop Update

1960s Purple Plaid Pinafore/Jumper (S/M)

It has been a good while since I have done a shop update. I’m still working out the kinks in my new apartment for shop photos (lighting, location), but that will come with time. It started out nice and bright, and then some really weird shadows started happening nearing the end. I’ve just got to find the perfect hour when the sun is flowing through the windows and my body isn’t making weird Peter Pan shadows on the wall.

Anyways, the shop update! I’ve got three – quite lovely – pinafores/jumpers (whatever you would like to call them) listed. They are excellent layering pieces and the type of item that’s fun to have in your closet because they are so versatile. I’ve got quite a few of my own, as you probably already know. There is a sweet mini skirt as well, that if it fit me, I would have kept it. And the blouse I paired it with is also for sale…I think they go quite nicely together, to be honest. The black slinky dress is such a fun one, but hard to photograph (I hate photographing black). It’s hard to see, but it has a weaved waffle detailing on the bust and sleeves – upping the little black dress game. And last but not least, the camel wool skirt. Now that I look at it, I should have steamed it (eep!), but regardless of the odd crease, it’s an excellent piece for the cold months, and not to toot my own horn, but I like the way it makes my bod look from behind – shapes the bum quite splendidly and I only point that out because I am not that curvy of a woman, so this skirt is like a magic bum enhancing skirt.

Busy Beaver

I’m in the midst of a very busy month (who isn’t?!) – I have two dance shows this month, so I’m at rehearsals every evening for the next little while, on top of work and trying to get my act together for Christmas – so I am especially excited when I get out of the house to just do something because I want to. On Saturday Meaghan picked me up and our plan was to head to the Distillery District Holiday Market, however, we clearly didn’t have our thinking caps on because it was very busy. The kind of busy where you could drive around the neighbourhood forever trying to find a parking spot to no avail. We ended up giving up on that idea and just heading to cherry beach to snap some photos and enjoy the sort of mild weather. It was a short excursion, but excursion none the less, and one I desperately needed, because I find during my very little down time I am just marathoning Buffy and being as lazy as possible, which is fine, but doesn’t really make for a social and productive human being.

I’ll have to cut this short today because I’m in a bit of a rush. But I hope you all had a lovely weekend and aren’t feeling too stressed about this holiday season.
